Great reminder

Parents, we need to start having a real conversation about playing time.

Because as kids get older…
it stops being equal.

And if no one tells them that early,
it hits hard when it finally happens.

When they’re little, everyone plays.
Everyone gets a turn.
Everyone feels like the star.

But youth sports don’t stay like that forever.

As the competition level rises,
coaches start making decisions based on effort, attitude, skill, and consistency.

And that’s not unfair…
that’s real life.

Not every player will get the same minutes.
Not every player will start.
Not every player will be in during the big moments.

And that doesn’t mean your child isn’t good enough.
It means they’re being challenged.

But here’s where it matters most

If we don’t teach our kids this,
they start to believe:

“They don’t like me.”
“I’m not good enough.”
“This isn’t fair.”

Instead of understanding:

“I need to work harder.”
“I need to stay ready.”
“I need to be a good teammate no matter what.”

Because the truth is…

Character shows up the most
when things don’t go your way.

So teach your kids now:

Clap for your teammates even when you’re on the bench.
Stay locked in even when you’re not playing.
Respect the game enough to earn your spot.

Because equal playing time fades…

But work ethic, resilience, and attitude?
That’s what actually carries them forward.

Another satisfied Resident of Portage. This man had heart surgery a couple years ago and is unable to do much strenuous yard work. With our crew of 15 or so we got the job done in an hour that would have taken him weeks to do. Thanks Wolfpack players and families. He is forever grateful.

Guys, it doesn’t matter what you swing. It’s how you swing that does! All these guys would still have double digit dingers with wood. Certain bats may get you a few close ones over the fence. A bat doesn’t make a contact hitter a power hitter. Just don’t get caught up in the “marketing” of the shiny new objects. Stay true to who you are and rip balls gap to gap if that’s who you are. Sac Bunt with the best of them if that’s your role. Hard ground ball behind the runner if that’s your job!
