Entreprenuer, Businessman, and Coach Mike Kelly (Hoops 101/ www.hoops101.net) has teamed up with current Port Washington Boys Varsity Volleyball Coach Jake Roessler, a highly accomplished coach and former player with a proven record of success at the high school and collegiate levels.
As a standout athlete at Massapequa High School, Jake was a three-time county champion, a Long Island Champion and 2011 New York State runner-up. He earned All-County and All-Long Island honors as a senior. Jake continued his career at SUNY New Paltz, helping to lead the program to 4 NCAA Final Four appearances and a 2016 National Championship, while receiving All-Conference and NCAA Division 3 All-Tournament Team recognition.
Transitioning into coaching, he captured a Nassau County Championship as an assistant coach at Massapequa High School, served as a graduate assistant with the women's volleyball program at Adelphi University, and most recently has been the Head Boys Varsity Volleyball Coach at Port Washington High School for the past 5 years. He continues to develop a competitive program and successful student-athletes.
Spike Set 101 is for boys and girls in 3rd Grade all the way up through high school. It consists of clinics, camps, and travel teams. Spike Set 101 provides excellent training by an extremely qualified staff of men and women with extensive volleyball backgrounds.
Lower nets are used for the younger age groups and the height of the net increases as the player gets older. Spike Set 101 prides itself in player development starting from a young age, with the focus being on skill development and developing the foundation of each player. Practices/ training sessions consist of drills that address the different skills, competitive play, and fun games.
Spike Set 101 provides a highly qualified staff that has the ability to work with and relate to all ages and abilities. We provide a high level volleyball education and training template, while at the same time, keeping it fun for the kids.
