We are truly going to miss seeing your face on the pool deck. You always walked in with a smile and the most contagious laugh. You were not only a swim parent but a fellow deputy and friend. Our deepest condolences to all who are mourning the loss of Miss Naomi. Gone too soon.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department mourns alongside the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office following the passing of Deputy Naomi Dubreus.

On behalf of Chief Leo Niemczyk and the members of the Port St. Lucie Police Department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Deputy Dubreus’ family, friends, and loved ones, as well as to our brothers and sisters in green at the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

During this time of profound sorrow, we stand in prayerful support and solidarity with all who knew and loved her. Her life and service will not be forgotten.

Very important differences in swim lessons.

IN-HOME IS CONVENIENT. SURVIVAL IS CONSISTENT.

In the Port St. Lucie area, in-home swim lessons are not survival-based programs. True water independence requires certified survival swim instructors, frequent lessons, and a controlled environment.

That’s why certified programs—Tiny Bubbles Aquatic Academy, Floating Otters, and Abrams Aquatic Academy—teach at their own locations and do not travel. One or two lessons a week isn’t enough to build real life-saving skills.

When safety is the goal, certification and consistency matter more than convenience.

Bathing suit color is a safety choice, not just a style choice.

In a pool, lake, or river, blue/teal/gray/white and most “water-colored” prints blend in fast. Movement + glare + waves + shadows can make a child disappear in seconds—even when you’re looking right at the water.

This or That?

✅ Choose: neon yellow, neon orange, neon pink, bright red, high-contrast solids
❌ Avoid: blue, teal, green, gray, black, white, and busy patterns that camouflage

The right color helps you SEE faster—but it doesn’t prevent drowning. Touch supervision for kids under 5 + barriers + life jackets (open water) + swim skills + CPR!

We offer our warmest congratulations to the Little Otters who have secured positions on the Indian River Rats swim team. Their tireless work ethic and determination are to be applauded. Featured are four current students who tried out for the team, as well as a former student who has been part of the team for three years. What's remarkable is that some of these students were unable to swim just a year ago, yet they worked diligently to reach the tryout stage. With four out of four students succeeding in making the team, their efforts have paid off. It bears remembering that all these River Rats began as Floating Otters 🥰🦦🥰.
