Are you Type 2 Diabetic? Do you ever wonder how you should be eating? Do you think you are eating the proper way? Here are some of the best foods for those of us with Type 2 Diabetes.
Focus on whole foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and fiber. Both eating more of a Mediterranean diet or plant-based (Vegetarian) choices help with improving blood sugar and heart health. Choose non-starchy vegetable (stay away from potatoes), whole grains, fruits, beans(black or pinto are good), nuts, fish(Salmon or Tuna but not from a can), and low-fat dairy are all great for protein, but stay away from soda, processed foods, refined carbs (white bread, pasta), and unhealthy fats. Portion control and eating meals at consistent times are the best way of eating properly and maintaining weight and blood sugar control. If you are looking to drop a few pounds, do it slowly by lowering your calories. Being diabetic, we can not just not eat. You need to eat, just eat less calories each time you do eat, focusing more on protein, but remember we do still need our vegetables.
