War Box Family and Friends!
If you were not in class at some point today you missed news! Knowing that Hailee is pregnant with our baby girl, and having our three other boys, with a heavy heart we have decided to not renew our lease that is up in February. Our last class will be held on January 27th (a Saturday) and all of our athletes (former and current) are invited to attend! If anyone is interested in buying the gym as a whole, I will provide you with a deal that is borderline unbelievable. In the event that the gym doesn’t sell as a whole, we will sell the equipment individually starting with our current members and then opening it up to the public.
Now that all that sadness out of the way… let me tell you a few things! About 8 years ago I sat in the living room contemplating quitting my job to open a gym… I decided to start small and open in our garage in the backyard! We ran 1 or 2 classes a day, if you couldn’t make it, try again tomorrow! It gave me the experience of helping introduce CrossFit to those who have never lifted, and gave the opportunity to teach athletes to better their form. A couple years into running in our backyard we decided to move out in town. I took the leap and quit my job, opened at a small place off Nebraska Avenue in New Port Richey.
We truly started building a community. I didn’t want a clique in our gym… we wanted everyone to be there for each other, support each other, and cheer each other on. The other local business owners knew who we were as we supported the local breweries and businesses around us on Friday nights! We ran there for a few years, it was a blast. We then moved to our current location off 19!
The community that we have built has never failed to amaze me, we had a member have cancer, we did a fundraiser to help her out. We have had multiple addicts, medical cases, and first timers come through the doors. We have had members lose over 150 pounds, build 40 pounds of muscle, get off blood pressure medication, be mobile and bend joints that they hadn’t used in years. We have had our ups, and our downs, and we have handled it like a family! Every time someone new would come in our community would accept them and make them feel at home. You all have impressed me in ways that an average gym goer wouldn’t understand… I made some damning workouts purposely built to slay your body knowing that everyone would get time capped, and they have been completed! If you can push your body to the limit, there is no stopping you! Please keep that in mind as you continue your journey in fitness! I can proudly say that we opened the gym to help people, and I feel like we have accomplished our mission!
Inclosing I will say thank you. To everyone who has “checked their ego at the door” and “became comfortable being uncomfortable”, my hat is off to you. I truly appreciate the opportunity you have given me to help you in a fitness journey, the faith in our coaching staff, and the love you have put into our community. To all who have come through our doors, I truly thank you for the opportunity to meet and coach you. Keep up the hard work War Box Family, regardless of where your journey takes you, know you can do great things.
