Today we honor the heroes of D-Day on the 82nd Anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy — June 6, 1944.

On that historic day, thousands of brave servicemen stormed the beaches of Normandy in defense of freedom, knowing the dangers that awaited them and making unimaginable sacrifices for future generations. Their courage, determination, and selflessness changed the course of history and helped secure liberty around the world.

We remember the fallen, honor the survivors, and thank all who served during World War II. May we never forget the bravery of the Greatest Generation and the price paid for the freedoms we enjoy today.

This Memorial Day, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7845 pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty will never be forgotten. Because of them, we enjoy the freedoms we hold dear each and every day.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans and active-duty service members who have answered the call to serve. Your sacrifices — and the sacrifices made by your families — deserve our respect not just on Memorial Day, but every day.

As we gather with family and friends, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who never made it home. 🇺🇸
