Sirju Basketball academy was started by Coach Richard Sirju & his wife Kelly Sirju. We have lived in port Orange for 5 years now and 2 years ago we began searching for basketball training in the area and couldn’t find much. With our youngest son being very skilled in the sport at the young age of 3, it was nearly impossible to find something for kids that young. Coach Rich has been playing basketb
all for the last 20 years. He played high school ball at Piper then went on to play college ball at Daytona state as a PG/SG. Then went on to play division 1 at Utah state university. He is known for his 3 point shot :)
He has a strong love for the sport and a great desire to teach youth the game! Assistant Coach Kelly didn’t play basketball but she has worked with kids for the last 15 years, specifically children with autism & special needs. She loves to work with kids that may not otherwise be able to play basketball in a traditional competitive basketball setting. She has grown to learn & love basketball by watching her sons love for the game. Paired together they make a great coaching team with a ton of knowledge and patience. The Sirju’s are also foster parents and strive to make a difference in our youth every day, whether it’s through the sports of basketball or providing a child with a safe place they can call home. We also have Coach Kevin on our team! Coach Kevin & Coach Rich met at the post office where they work and shared their love for basketball! Coach Kevin has a message for everyone
Hello and greetings to all kids, parents, and grandparents. I would like to thank you for placing your trust in Coach Rich, Coach Kelly, as well as myself, to instill some wisdom & guidance in your child’s life. If you notice I haven’t mentioned basketball yet. That’s because what we do is bigger than the game. Everything we install within our sessions of our camp are tools your child can carry with them throughout life. Hard work ! That’s the key to success. We preach that there is no replacement. As a coach here at Sirju Basketball Academy I would like to share some things about myself. I’m from the Tampa Bay Area. I Attended The Great Bethune Cookman University. Obtaining my Masters in organizational leadership. With a under grad in Education . Hard work and dedication allowed me to obtain these accomplishments that I am so proud of. We also give credit where it is due.. POV founder Coach Lauren Valle was a huge inspiration to our academy... We had a dream and we saw how she made her dream come true too. We sat down for hours and she provided us so much guidance & Insight to take this leap of faith and make it happen. Bringing sports to this county was so much more than Basketball, it's giving our youth accountably, discipline, structure, and an opportunity to surround yourself with like minded individuals, because we all know the world can be a cold place full of peer pressure. We love having a positive environment where we teach hard work does pay off!
