Midcoast Strength We are a functional strength and athletic conditioning center and a Spartan DEKA Affiliate We believe that everyone has an inner athlete.

This athlete is specific to YOU, the individual. With appropriate and consistent training in functional strength, overall physical conditioning, a solid nutrition plan and a balanced lifestyle, each and every MFSD member will begin to realize their true individual athletic potential. Whether an individual comes to us with a weight oriented goal, a strength oriented goal or a safety oriented goal,

we offer a hybrid of group classes that will help one meet their goal or goals. We believe that nutrition is the CORE to overall wellness and athleticism. We use a variety of training implements that mimic or directly tie into our daily activity needs and help keep us functionally strong - helping us to be a better version of self, a better athlete in our discipline and to keep at bay disease related and age related deterioration of the body that somehow manages to put a halt to once simple tasks such as picking up a set of dropped keys or carry multiple bags of groceries. We believe in PROGRESSION, GOOD FORM and MODIFICATION. People have injuries (past and present), disease (past and present), limitations (past and present). We recognize this and coach accordingly. We push heavy stuff; pull heavy stuff; lift heavy stuff; drag heavy stuff; climb; jump; punch; swing; clean; press; squat; lunge; flip; sprint; hold; crawl. We like kettlebells, barbells, dumbbells, chin up bars, tires, ropes, jump ropes, agility cones and ladders, bags, mitts, balls, pipes, and most of all, body weight. Our current equipment offerings will grow with our athlete's skill set. CLASSES: All classes can be capped based upon facility space availability in order to meet occupancy standards. Classes will be on a first come, first served basis. We also have some open gym time post class for a self-paced or light competitive WOD. Times for open gym are limited to certain class days.

Our 8th Annual Murph Challenge will be held this Saturday May 25th @ 9am at Midcoast Strength.

The workout is open to the general public with many scaling options for any level of fitness. Bring a guest if even just to cheer us on and show appreciation to our fallen warriors.

Title: "Breaking the Spell of Sedentariness: A Whimsical Journey to an Active Life"

Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Couch Potatoville, a curious phenomenon known as the "Sedentary Spell" had cast its enchantment over the land. Citizens found themselves bewitched by the allure of comfy cushions and the mesmerizing glow of screens, unaware of the magical maladies that lurked beneath the surface.

Symptom 1: The Lethargy Lullaby
The first symptom of the Sedentary Spell was the irresistible Lethargy Lullaby. Residents would find themselves sinking into the cushions of their thrones, feeling the pull of a magical force that whispered, "Stay still, dear friend, and let the lethargy lull you into a never-ending nap." Alas, the more they succumbed, the weaker their limbs became.

Symptom 2: The Posture Pixie's Prank
Meanwhile, the mischievous Posture Pixie would play her tricks on unsuspecting townsfolk. Hunched shoulders, slouched backs, and a general lack of grace became the norm. The townspeople were blissfully unaware that this posture predicament was a direct result of the Sedentary Spell.

Symptom 3: The Puff-and-Pant Paradox
As the Sedentary Spell tightened its grip, the Puff-and-Pant Paradox emerged. Simple tasks like climbing stairs or chasing after wayward pets left the citizens breathless and yearning for magical remedies. Little did they know, the antidote was right under their noses – or rather, in the enchanted meadows of Exercise Acres.

Enter the Hero: Exercise, the Energetic Enchanter
Amidst the enchantment, a brave hero emerged – Exercise, the Energetic Enchanter. With a wave of its resistance band and a sprinkle of endorphin dust, Exercise began to break the Sedentary Spell.

Exercise’s Magic Wand: Cardio Concoctions and Flexibility Formulas
To combat the Lethargy Lullaby, Exercise introduced Cardio Concoctions – a potion of running, rowing, and cycling that banished weariness and reinvigorated the spirit. Citizens felt their energy levels soar as they embraced the magical rhythm of heart-pounding activities.

The Posture Pixie's Prank met its match with the Flexibility Formulas. Mobility, stretching, and strength training exercises aligned the spines of Couch Potatoville's inhabitants, freeing them from the invisible shackles of slouching.

Puff-and-Pant Paradox Be Gone!
As the townspeople engaged in Exercise's enchanted routines, the Puff-and-Pant Paradox dissipated. Climbing stairs became a breeze, and they discovered newfound joy in chasing their pets through the mystical meadows.

In the end, Exercise, the Energetic Enchanter, broke the Sedentary Spell, turning Couch Potatoville into a bustling realm of active, lively citizens. The kingdom flourished, and everyone lived happily ever after – with the spell of sedentariness banished by the magic of movement.

FYI - I don’t believe in designated cheat meals, especially if you haven’t reached your personal body composition goal. If you eat badly because of poor planning then you make it up with the next meal. It’s about balance. No fad diets, no fad supplements, just clean eating, rest and regular productive exercise 🙌

There’s nothing more profound and life changing than making a decision to do things differently, setting a goal and then sticking to the process and working through the discomfort until you can say it’s paying off and it’s worth it.

Too often I see people come in and after 90 days just before the change happens for them they abandon themselves, doomed to repeat the same pattern that they desperately wanted to get away from.

Meet Megan Cire, she’s doing the deal. She never gave up despite real challenges that would’ve given anybody an excuse to quit. Days with a heat index of 100+ in the gym or near freezing temperatures. She’s dealt with nagging injuries, fatigue from the every day demands of being a parent and employee but she pushes through and as you can see, doesn’t regret the grit it took to come this far. 45 lbs net pounds lost!

Congratulations Megan we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what another year will bring to you 🙌💪
