We would like to offer prayers to all of the loved ones of Quentin Burns. He played for the H-Town Panthers and the Texas Colts in the Houston area and was well respected on and off the field. His passing was sudden and shocking after playing in a game at the Big Southern Classic. The celebration of life details are posted below for all who would like to attend.

So! the time is as best as can be! League Championships are about to take place this weekend. Some are League Championships??? However, some are called State Championships some even called National Championship??? Truth be told, because there is no governing semi pro / minor league football organization ANY one or other organization can declare a local, regional, state, or national title TYPE game to assert themselves as a recognizable (not necessarily respectable) and at best an established entity trying to gain national recognition and yet not be transparent when disclosures of the process of scheduling, officiating, roster changes and venues are requested but not supplied until the last moment. The (BS) chat pages rule so much now in semi pro/minor league football. Sadly there are some DAMN good organizations (because all they want to do is play football and give young men an opportunity to advance in the game) that choose to be straight up and have to deal with those teams that are involved in switching /changing modifying rules to their advantage and boldly make their own statement BY NOT complying to original promises.

🏈 Texas Colts Homecoming 2026: Honoring Coach Rene Torres 🏈

As we gather for Homecoming, the Texas Colts take a moment to recognize and honor a man whose impact on the game and our organization spans decades — Coach Rene Torres.

Coach Torres’ football journey began long before many of us stepped onto the field. In 1971, he competed in the Marine Corps, finishing as a runner-up champion at Camp Pendleton, California among more than 35 teams. His passion for the game carried into flag football, where he earned National Championships in 1986, 1988, 1989, and 1994, along with Texas State Championships in 1986, 1989, and 2000.

From 1992 to 2026, Coach Torres dedicated 34 years to coaching semi-pro and minor league football. Throughout his career, he led and developed teams across the region, including the Houston Gladiators, Houston Hurricanes, Texas Riders, Houston Jaguars, Houston Gunslingers, Texas Colts, Montgomery County Bulls, Houston Cardinals, Houston Ravens, Texas Spartans, and H-Town Panthers.

Coach Torres’ legacy is one of consistency, leadership, and commitment to the game at every level.

The Texas Colts extend our sincere appreciation to Coach Torres and his family for their continued support and dedication over the years. His contributions remain a part of our foundation.

🏟 Join us this weekend for Homecoming and take the opportunity to meet Coach Torres as we honor his journey and impact on the game.

WHY THE LONE STAR MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL NEWS?

This is a question everyone keeps asking, and this is an attempt to answer the question.

To provide a one stop website providing links for individuals such as players, as well as teams, and leagues in the state of Texas to minor league football.

It’s an attempt to unify the state of TEXAS MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL programs and work toward crowning a TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP format which is long long overdue.

It’s an attempt to unify the state of TEXAS MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL programs and work toward establishing a TEXAS MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME.

Leagues don't want to be forced to follow specific rules, they want to rule themselves, LSMLFNEWS doesn't want to change that.

LSMLFNEWS wants a state championship bracket made up of only champions.

There will be a LSMLFNEWS TEXAS CHAMPION IN 2010.

The nomination process for TEXAS MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME will begin in February of 2010 with the announcement of the first honorees to be made at the TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP game in July 2010.
