Ohio has approximately 720 walleye charters on Lake Erie targeting what the ODNR estimates as 57.6 million walleye. Almost all of the legal fish they catch are kept. We even catch some while fishing for catfish. It appears that there are 5 to 10 catfish charters. The ODNR doesn't have an accurate count targeting an unknown number of catfish. They don't have any idea what the numbers are for those either. Although some are kept. More than half are released. I have had people comment that I am single handedly removing all the catfish and destroying the fishing in the Sandusky Bay. I know this is far from the truth but I worry about the population as much as anyone. My catch rates indicate that the fishing is as good as it has ever been. I would love for the ODNR to pay more attention to the catfish so they could confirm or deny my observations.

I planted this tree over 50 years ago and we have grown old together. I love this old tree even though it tried to kill me once. I got a call that I needed to come back up because a huge limb had fallen through my trailer. When I got here a limb bigger around than my thigh was resting on my pillow. After all these years my trailer is gone and I have to wave goodbye.. I have loved the time I spent here. I'll be running charters from Clemons Boats again next year.
