Yesterday I fished with returning client Starr and her husband from OH. I decided to try getting away from the huge crowd of boats so we started up on the Canadian line north of Kelleys Island Shoal and trolled toward the NW corner of Kelleys Island. We had a little cool wind out of the north but the sun did finally show itself towards the end of the charter.

The program was 6 Dreamweavers (3 per corner) pulling assorted spoons at 0, 1.5, and 3 setting all at 55' port & 65' starboard leads in 34-44 FOW at 2.1 mph. Also ran 3 PWC Lites with 2oz in-line weights behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards at 90', 70' & 50' leads.

Sunday started off a little foggy but the winds were minimal for returning client Matt and his family from OH. We started about 1 mile west of West Bay Kelleys and trolled to the NE along the west side of Kelleys Shoal. Not a fast bite but the grade of fish was really nice.

The program was 6 Dreamweavers (3 per corner) at 0, 1.5, and 3 setting all at 55' & 65' leads in 34-44 FOW at 2.1 mph. Also ran 4 PWC Lites with 2oz in-line weights behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards at 90' & 70' leads and 2 Berkley Deep Hit Sticks NN12 at 120' leads. PWC LItes took most of the fish with the bigger ones coming on the spoon in the pic below.

Two beautiful days on Lake Erie with new client John and his buddies form OH. We fished yesterday afternoon and this morning in the same area very close to West Harbor and the bite was pure mayhem. As fast as I could get rods out they were coming in 2 times faster.

The program was 6 Dreamweavers (3 per corner) at 0, 1.5, and 3 setting all at 30' leads in 22 FOW at 2.0 mph. Also ran 4 PWC Lites with 2oz in-line weights behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards at 30' & 40' leads and 2 Berkley Deep Hit Sticks NN12 at 60' leads. PWC LItes took most of the fish with the bigger ones coming on the spoons (weird).

Yesterday, 3-year-old Murphy took big fish for the day!! I had returning client Tim, his wife Allison and their young daughter Murphy from Columbus, OH. Despite the building SW winds having Murphy onboard was awesome. Murphy and Tim fished with me 2 years ago, so this wasn't her first rodeo...lol. I kept teasing her throughout the day that she needed to kiss her walleye which wasn't going to happen until she started reeling in our last fish of the day and she announced, "I'm going to kiss this one". Too funny and an absolutely great day with Tim and his family. I love having children on the boat, especially when they as adorable as Murphy.

We started trolling down by Clinton Reef and trolled downhill as far as the Scotts Point Buoy. We caught our nicer fish right away and then it slowed down by the cliffs then caught a few smaller males from Mouse to Scotts. I really would like to get out towards D can area as I haven't fished that area yet this season...Heck, I haven't made it past F can.

Program was the same as previous charter.

Today, I had first time clients Bill from OH and his friend from WY. It was a really fast bite today. We got all their fish and then mine in really quick fashion. The winds were light and the sun was shining.

We fished a different area but used the same program as the last charter...

We trolled Berkley Deep Hit Sticks NN12 behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards in 27 FOW at 1.8 mph with lead lengths from 60' to 100'. We also ran (4) PWC Lites with inline 2oz weights at 20', 30', 40' and 50" leads on the inside rods.

Yesterday took longer than it should but we got it done for returning client Kevin and family from WI. I made the decision to run to my spot from the day before. We setup up and caught one right away. I did notice the water had cleaned up and the water temp had dropped from Friday but I was hoping that as we trolled south that we would find the right water. Well after about 2 hours of trolling and only boating 1 more fish we decided to move toward the pack in the south passage.

By the time we pulled up all the lines and got over to the pack it was almost 10am with only 2 fish in the box. By this time there were a tremendous number of boats fishing this area with a mix of casters and trollers drifting and trolling all directions. My radar threw a message that it reached maximum number of targets...that would be 1000 boats plus. Reluctantly we started to set lines, and we caught 3 fish before I could even set the third rod. Amidst the quick chaos I looked up and realized that we were on a collision course with another trolling boat coming from the right. I quickly threw the boat in reverse to avoid collision and luckily all was fine. That was the closest I ever came to colliding with another boat. At that point I pulled up the lines and told my clients we would go find some fishable water away from the pack and if needed we would come back to this spot later.

With some searching we were able to find all their fish and a couple of mine in a quick end of day rally. We trolled Berkley Deep Hit Sticks NN12 behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards in 22 FOW at 1.8 mph with lead lengths from 40' to 60'. We also ran (4) PWC Lites with inline 2oz weights at 20' and 30' leads on the inside rods.

Luckily the bite was great to help offset the cold & wet weather for first time client Carter and his coworkers from Southern OH. We found good marks and good colored water quickly. We setup up and trolled a 5 miles straight line to catch their fish and a few of mine in roughly 2.5 hours...the fish were hungry!!

We trolled Berkley Deep Hit Sticks NN12 behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards in 26 FOW at 2.2 mph with lead lengths from 50' to 80'. We also ran (4) PWC Lites with inline 2oz weights at 30', 40' and 50' leads on the inside rods.

Yesterday I got to fish with returning clients Dennis and his buddies from SD. With overcast skies I thought I would have to change up some of my bait colors today but we decided to start with the same program, same spot with all the same baits and it worked. The fish from the day before had moved about 1.5 miles north but we found them quickly. These walleyes are definitely on the move. 70 out of the last 72 fish cleaned that were post-spawn.

Same program as Friday...

We trolled Berkley Deep Hit Sticks NN12 behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards in 32FOW at 1.9mph with lead lengths from 70' to 100'. The deeper baits definitely produced more fish (bait depth roughly 19'-21' down). The larger walleye did come on two PWC Lites with inline 2oz weights at 40' and 50' leads.

Yesterday I got to fish with my friend Mike and his crew from OH. With some help from Lake Erie Fishing Charters with Eriegardless Sportfishing we found some really nice color water with some biggins that wanted to eat.
