📣Please Welcome Megan Zawacki to the UWCC Board!

Megan is a native of Charlotte County and a graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies.

She has been dedicated to serving the community for the past 12 years through a career in local government and serving as a Human Resource Generalist with the Charlotte County Airport Authority.

Megan enjoys spending quality time with her family and reading.

🎉Please Welcome Odalys Valdes to the UWCC Board.

With more than 30 years of experience as a paralegal across the legal, nonprofit, and public sectors, Odalys brings a strong commitment to service, collaboration, and community to the United Way of Charlotte County Board.

Before relocating to Southwest Florida, she served as Foundation Director for the North Hudson Community Action Corporation in northern New Jersey, where she developed community partnerships and led outreach efforts focused on expanding access to healthcare and essential social services.

Today, she serves as a Paralegal for the City of Punta Gorda, providing legal and administrative support to the City Manager, City Attorney, City Council, and city departments. She is also a proud Leadership Charlotte Class of 2025 graduate.

Throughout her career, she has remained passionate about giving back and believes strong communities are built through service, partnership, compassion, kindness, and integrity.

Outside of work and community involvement, Odalys enjoys spending time with family, cooking, listening to music, traveling, taking on home improvement projects, and staying actively involved in the community.

Volunteers will be giving the parking lot curbs a fresh coat of paint, as well as, light yard work in the front of the learning center.

Skills: Must be able to work outside and get up and down from the pavement. Painting skills.

Paint & brushes will be provided.

Loveland Center needs to be spruced up. We need assistance with some outside weeding, planting and possible pressure washing. Touch up painting around doorways and lobby area is needed as well.

Outside work will be done 8am - 10am.

Inside work will be done 3pm - 5pm.

All of the tools & supplies will be provided.

Water & snacks provided.

Please wear close-toe shoes, clothes you can get dirty or paint on, and gardening gloves.

Skills: Climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, being outside in the heat.

Volunteers will paint the interior of a duplex owned by Catholic Charities and rented to low-to-moderate income at-risk families, veterans, and seniors in Charlotte County.

The duplex consists of two side-by-side units, each 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom.

Volunteers will work in two teams, one per unit, to complete the project in a single day.

Please wear close-toed shoes and painting clothes.

Skills: Standing, reaching and repetitive arm movement.

Water, snacks & lunch provided.

Take a Book. Give a Book. Share the Joy of Reading!

Help us bring the joy of reading to more children in our community! Volunteers will build two fun, colorful book boxes that will be placed at community locations and filled with Imagination Library books for children from birth to age 5.

This is a hands-on project where you can build, paint, decorate, and get creative!

Volunteers are asked to help provide or purchase the basic building materials needed for the boxes, such as wood, hardware, paint, and other supplies.

Whether you love to build, create, or simply want to help make books more accessible to local children, there’s a place for you on this project!

Skills: Wood working & assembly. Safe knowledge & use of tools. Creativity!

Senior Friendship Center (SFC) is seeking volunteers to support older adults by participating a Bingo Bonanza Donation Drive and Prize Assembly Project.

Prior to 10/1 volunteers will collect bingo prizes through an internal donation drive. Examples of bingo prizes to collect are playing cards, kitchen towels, word searches, adult coloring books, socks, water bottles, dollar store items such as dish soap laundry soap, sponges.

Then on Thursday, October 1 Volunteers will sort donated items by category and by value. Assemble prize baskets or storage bins, label containers for easy staff access, package seasonal prize assortments, complete and inventory supply list.

The collections will be distributed among SFC congregate dining sites in Charlotte County.

Snacks & Lunch are provided.
