Finding the Fish in the Grass

Looking back on this day, we found a flat loaded with some of the best turtle grass around, and the fish were sitting right on top of it. There were plenty of mullet around too, which is always a good sign when I’m looking for redfish.

With the water temperature jumping up to 65 degrees, about 8 degrees warmer than the day before, it felt like the perfect time to switch things up and start with a little topwater action. Sometimes those temperature changes are all it takes to get the fish moving!

Reading the Water & Making the Adjustment

Looking back on this episode, one thing that really stands out is how quickly the game plan can change. From adjusting our approach to figuring out where the fish were holding, we had to pay attention to the conditions and make the most of every opportunity.

That’s what I love about fishing — you can have a plan going in, but sometimes the fish have a completely different plan for you. You just have to adapt and keep working!

Looking Back at a Backcountry Adventure

Looking back on this episode, we had just come through a big cold snap, and with temperatures starting to warm back up, I had a feeling some fish might be moving into the backcountry. I was hoping to find some clean sand, sight fish for redfish and snook, and maybe even fool a few on some bugs.

Sometimes you just have to make the run, trust your instincts, and see what you can find. This was one of those days where the backcountry had plenty to offer!

First Fish of the Day

Oh, boy! Snapper, snapper, and the first fish of the day is going in the box! When I looked down at the screen and saw nothing but snapper, I knew we had found a good spot.

Getting past the AJ’s and straight into a school of snapper made for one heck of a start. This is exactly the kind of offshore action I’m always looking for!

Crystal-Clear Water & Fish Everywhere
