We set up out of a trailer blind built by the owner of Feathers Down Flyway and placed it right in a traffic field. The spread was no joke—around 3,000 decoys between silhouettes, headed socks, and full bodies.
Throughout the hunt we worked three separate flocks of snow geese, each flock pushing a minimum of 1,500 birds. The skies were full and the birds worked the spread just how you like to see them.
With a minimal crew of shooters in the blind, we were still able to put together a solid strap, taking 8 Greater Snow Geese, 1 Greater Blue Phase Snow, and 1 juvenile Blue Phase Ross.
This season we made the decision to step away from running clients for snow goose season to prove that we can consistently locate and hunt these birds here in the Finger Lakes. Today was another step toward that goal. Not every day is a burner, but when the birds are here we’re on them.
Big things coming for future seasons. Stay tuned. 🦆❄️
