You're doing your best

Remember that, this time of year. When your schedule gets crazy and you're beating yourself up for not eating as well as you could, not exercising as much as you'd like, not getting in your self-care time and making a list of things you SHOULD be doing.

What you're doing is enough.

Sometimes what we REALLY need is to take a time out and put our care in someone else's hands. That's where I come in.

Recovery sessions are a great way to take a pause from the craziness where we only focus on YOU. You get time to relax while we use tried and true techniques to calm your nervous system, relieve tension, reconnect with your body, and help you feel ready to take on the world again.

Thank you to Dassah Skelton for hosting this workshop at her studio Intuitive Peace with Dassah Skelton!

And thank you to the group of participants today! They all left saying they felt so much better and had new tools to use in their daily lives.
I could not be happier or more grateful.

Have you ever booked a private Yoga class for your family? Or friend group?

This can be a great, ZERO STRESS, way to connect and care for yourself while getting in that family time.

Your family isn’t bendy? They can’t take anything seriously? I get it! There’s no pressure - it’s just you and your group 🤷🏻‍♀️ Giggles and jokes are ok and encouraged.

Yin Yoga - think stress relief with very gentle poses. Grandma and grandpa can do this with no problem. We use pillows and blankets for support with low lighting and gentle music.

Gentle Yoga - movement that allows variability for each persons ability and preferences.

Recovery class - we will use small, low density balls and some medium air filled balls to gently massage the soft tissues of the body. Gentle stretches and breathing.

When the goal is to get our body balanced and keep it that way - we have to learn how to adapt and keep on keeping on when life is LIFE.

That means learning how to listen to your body
That means learning different techniques and speeds so you can make the right choice each day
That means asking questions about how you can keep improving

Passes at Davenport School of Yoga / Bettendorf School of Yoga don’t expire for one year!
My Thursday morning Yin class begins November 16 at 9:00am and will be every Thursday (when a holiday doesn’t interfere).

No experience necessary for yin. No flexibility required either! This is a stress relief based class with very gentle poses that are held for 4-5 minutes, on the floor, with the support of bolsters and blankets.

Stress, busyness, distraction and disassociation. These can be individual moments or they can become a cycle that feed into each other. Being so busy and stressed during your long days that you don't even realize you're in a living, breathing body. It just comes along for the ride.
FINALLY getting home and getting a moment to sit down and... mindlessly scroll until you fall asleep.

I am NOT here to judge or pretend like I am not a regular human who does this. I'm here to bring your attention to a cycle that I see so many falling into. I have individuals coming to me to help them get fit or feel better and they tell me they are so exhausted. They're too tired to workout. Their bodies hurt. Their anxiety is sky high.

For whatever reason(s), these individuals have disconnected with systems like their breathing mechanics - which in turn causes issues with their neck and low back, they have poorer digestion, and they are not using their own built-in 'off switch' to their fight or flight response because they don't know HOW to breathe.

Their bodies are stuck in positions that they hold all day because of their job, their responsibilities at home, their stress and their bodies own protection mechanisms. They don't know how to get out of these 'stuck' positions and they have literally lost sensation in certain spaces of their body (can you slide your shoulder blades in 360 degrees or engage your pelvic floor? - you should be able to).

It is so important to me to create a space for my clients to feel safe and vulnerable in. It's ok to take a giant step back to work on foundational elements like breathing, core connection, and joint stability. To get back in touch with your sense of calm.

You may not sweat in a session with me. But you will leave feeling lighter, happier and calmer.

PS...The best moments for me: when my clients realize they can give themselves permission to reconnect with themselves at their own pace and they can let go of some false sense of urgency to be/do more 🌙
