Would you like to join me in an experiment?

A few months ago we ditched our local internet provider and switched to Starlink.

We were constantly dealing with the internet dropping out. When my wife needed it for homeschooling the kids, it would randomly stop working. That usually led to a call to me at work asking me to “fix the internet,” as if I had any control over it.

Before switching at home, I had already been using Starlink at work. I use it in the office and also run a mobile unit in my van. I’ve been really impressed with how well it works.

I can get internet almost anywhere. No cellular dead spots. Sometimes even through trees or way out in the middle of nowhere. It just sits on the dashboard of my van plugged into a 12v port and works.

So we switched at home, and it was instantly better. It slows down occasionally, but overall it has been far more reliable than what we had before.

I was telling a friend about it the other day who just moved into a new rental. While sharing about Starlink I learned something interesting. If I share my referral link and someone signs up, we both get 30 days of free internet. He signed up yesterday.

So here’s the experiment.

I’m going to post about Starlink every day until I’ve earned a full year of free internet. That means I need 11 more people to sign up.

When you sign up and order the equipment, you’ll get 30 days of free internet. When I ordered, the equipment didn’t cost anything and it showed up in just a couple of days.

To qualify you need to:
• Be in the United States
• Be a new customer
• Use a residential or roam plan
• Make it through one billing cycle

Why am I doing this?

Because I want to learn more about referral links and affiliate marketing. I want to see what actually works. My goal is to share what I learn along the way and recommend things I genuinely like so we can both benefit.

If you’re thinking about switching internet, moving into a new place, or hitting the road and want to stay connected, comment “WIFI” and I’ll send you my referral link.

As this year ends, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really looked like. This year was hard. Some days, the biggest win was getting out of bed and taking care of myself. Other days, if I could do just one good thing, that was enough. I felt the weight of letting myself down and letting others down. I’ve learned I can’t keep doing the bare minimum and hope things work out. I don’t want to just survive anymore. I want to live with purpose.

There were losses this year. Broken relationships. Money stress. Big ideas that never fully got off the ground. I doubted myself a lot. I pulled away from people. I said no more than yes. Fear made starting things feel heavy. I cared too much about what others thought and not enough about taking the next step.

But there were good things too. I helped people grow. I saw proof that my work matters. I found moments where I smiled again and felt like myself. I learned that I’m good at encouraging others and helping them see what to do next. I built real relationships. I grew in my faith. I faced hard questions about forgiveness and kept moving forward.

What I’m learning is this: I don’t get stuck because I don’t care. I get stuck when I don’t know what to do next. When there’s no clear plan, pressure stops me.

So here’s my decision as this year ends: I’m not giving up. I’m not quitting on myself or the goals I’ve set. I’m choosing to keep going, take the next step, and finish what I start. This year was hard—but it didn’t break me. And next year, I’m finishing strong.

Do you remember Chumbawamba?

BMX teaches us to get up after we fall. Nobody likes to crash, but more times than not you can get up and finish. You may be sore or uncomfortable but you are ok.

Thanks for sharing this honest insight Saya Sakakibara.

Check out the new rule changes at USABMX for 2026.

They made some changes to the Lane Transfer System racing which I think will make for some fun racing wherever tracks are running LTS.

If you are taking on the Nationals, be sure to read the rule changes and how they will impact your racing.

If you are interested in understanding the rules better and how they apply to you I am going through the rule book on Skool.

Lately I have been talking about how to approach a new track in my Skool Community.

This is the best view you are going to get before ever riding a track no one has ridden.

How would you ride it? What is one tip you would give to your kids or teammates to give them an advantage in this track?

Apparently Skool (this app) is something that can be a great tool for community and learning. I was specifically fed ads about teaching BMX.

From an advertising perspective Skool is very broad in who it appeals to and this ad is very specific in who they are targeting. Which, in this case, is me so I can build a community for BMX racers to grow.

I go back and forth about investing the time into an online community. I see the value in drawing like minded people together around BMX racing and I see the work it requires to make it be successful and have it thrive.

I have 3 tiers I would consider implementing for coaching and training :

1. Free open community for general discussion and sharing wins and tips

2. Have an affordable community zoom call once a week to talk about specific topics and open Q&A

3. Paid One-on-one coaching. Setting goals, creating workout routines and giving you skills to work on.

If you know me you know that I don’t really hold back information and I care about you and I want you to have success on and off the track.

If this interests you, go join the Basic Skool Community and put a 1, 2 or 3 in the comments to let me know what you would want to get out BMX racing coaching and training.
