🌶️⛳ 24TH ANNUAL CHILI OPEN — A RECORD-BREAKING DAY AT TIMBER POINTE! 🏆🍂

What a day! Saturday's 24th Annual Chili Open couldn't have asked for better weather, better competition, or a better turnout!

A RECORD 146 GOLFERS signed up for this year's event, making it our biggest Chili Open ever! And Mother Nature certainly cooperated, treating everyone to one of the nicest fall days of the year! ☀️🍁

As for the golf? Well, we needed a scorecard playoff to crown our champions!

🏆 1ST PLACE — 57 (-15)

Congratulations to Jim Jackson, Mike Harris, Jason Brown, and Dave Kudzma, who fired an incredible 15-under-par round featuring 15 birdies and 3 pars!

But that wasn't quite enough to win outright...

🥈 2ND PLACE — 57 (-15)

Tom Henry, Nick Guth, Matt Smith, and Jake Dykstra matched that outstanding score of 57, including an EAGLE on Hole #11! 🦅

With both teams tied at 15 under, we went to the scorecards to determine our champions.

And it all came down to HOLE #18!

Jim, Mike, Jason, and Dave made birdie, while Tom, Nick, Matt, and Jake recorded a par, giving the Jackson team the victory in the scorecard playoff!

Talk about a close finish! 👏

🏆⛳ FALL CUSTOMER APPRECIATION PLAYDAY — RESULTS ARE IN! 🍂☀️

What a day for golf at Timber Pointe! Mother Nature couldn't have given us a more beautiful fall day, and 123 golfers came out to enjoy the sunshine, some friendly competition, and one of our favorite outings of the year!

And judging by the scores, some of you were REALLY enjoying yourselves! 😂

🏆 1ST PLACE — 56 (-16)

Congratulations to Steve Vee, Hui Chong Dofflemyer, Brett Sechler, and Cody Rymer (not pictured), who put together an incredible round in our four-person scramble!

Their scorecard featured 12 birdies and TWO EAGLES on Holes #7 and #15! 🦅🦅

That's a pretty impressive way to spend a fall afternoon!

Jon & Kathy Althof and their guests turned in an outstanding round to claim second place.

🥉 3RD PLACE — 60 (-12)
Scott Johnson, Joe Sweeney, Jim Halbrader, and Jeff Johnson rounded out the top three with another terrific score.

🍻⛳ 3-6-9 GOLF & BREW FEST: A TIE FOR THE AGES! 🏆

We've had some close finishes at Timber Pointe over the years, but yesterday's 3-6-9 Golf & Brew Fest might have produced the most unbelievable tie we've ever seen!

First, a little background on the format. Our golfers played true alternate shot, meaning teammates took turns hitting the same ball throughout the round. And to make things even more interesting, each player could select ONLY THREE CLUBS to use for the entire event, plus their putter.

Sounds challenging enough, right? Well, wait until you hear how this one ended! 😂

After nine holes, TWO teams finished tied for first place with identical scores of 44:

🏆 Jeff Gander & Seth Stanfill

Jeff's clubs: Driver, 6-Hybrid & Pitching Wedge

Seth's clubs: 3-Wood, 8-Iron & Sand Wedge

🏆 Dave Perez & Justin Barrera

Dave's clubs: Driver, 6-Iron & Pitching Wedge

Justin's clubs: 3-Wood, 8-Iron & Pitching Wedge

But here's where it gets crazy...

They didn't just shoot the same total score. THEY SHOT THE EXACT SAME SCORE ON EVERY SINGLE HOLE! 😳

Both teams made a par on Hole #6 and bogeyed every other hole. So much for breaking the tie with a scorecard playoff!

That left us with only one option: A PUTT-OFF! ⛳

Both teams headed to the practice putting green to settle things once and for all. Jeff Gander and Justin Barrera are pictured taking their shots at the title.

And after TWO rounds of putting?

STILL TIED! 🤣

At that point, both teams agreed they'd had enough excitement for one afternoon, declared it a tie, and split the combined first- and second-place prize money.

🍺 BUT THE BIGGEST HIT OF THE DAY?

That might have been our post-round putting contest to determine who got to take home the leftover craft b**r!

Apparently, the possibility of winning a few free b**rs brings out a competitive spirit that even prize money can't match! 😂

Check out the picture of Craig Pruka trying to putt his way into a couple of craft b**rs from Pig Minds Brewery. We're not saying the stakes were high, but nobody wanted to leave those b**rs behind!

🏆🍾 NEW CHAMPIONS. SAME CH*****NE TRADITION! ⛳🥂

Introducing Timber Pointe's 2026 Member-Member Champions — Kent Kniep & Tom Henry!

And as tradition demands, here they are celebrating their victory the Timber Pointe way — drinking ch*****ne straight from the crystal championship trophy! 🍾🏆

But before the ch*****ne started flowing, these two had some work to do.

Kent and Tom wasted no time making their presence felt on Saturday, rolling in 4 birdies during the Front 9 Scramble (Holes 1, 4, 6 & 9) before adding 3 more in the Back 9 Chapman (Holes 11, 13 & 15). Despite their impressive seven-birdie performance, they ended Day 1 just 0.84 strokes behind leaders Kyle Rogers & Nick Guth, setting the stage for an exciting Sunday showdown!

Sunday was all about finishing the job.

They posted a solid 3-under-par Best Ball score on the Front 9 before collecting 38 Stableford points on the final nine to secure the championship by a mere 1.98 strokes!

🥈 Runners-Up: Congratulations to father-and-son duo Tom & Eric Howe, who finished in second place!

🧟‍♂️⛳ THE WHACKING DEAD — NIGHT GOLF RESULTS! ⛳🧟‍♀️

The dead were out. The glow sticks were lit. And as the sun went down, Timber Pointe transformed into the Land of the Dead. 🌙⛳ Somehow, most everyone still managed to make it back to the clubhouse alive. 💀

Congratulations to our West Course Champions — Kent & Teri Kniep and Kyle & Emma Kniep! Playing Holes 4–9 & 11, the Kniep foursome fired a 2-under-par 26, going bogey-free and making birdies on Holes 6 & 11. Pretty impressive when just finding the fairway in the dark can feel like an accomplishment!

Over on the East Course (Holes 1, 2 & 14–18), Tim Magnusen and his guests turned in the winning scorecard, also going bogey-free while making birdies on five of their seven holes for a 5-under-par score of 22.

We'd love to show you a picture of our East Course champions, but there's one small problem...

We have no idea what happened to them. 👀

They turned in their scorecard and then mysteriously disappeared before we could get a winner's photo. Apparently, winning your flight doesn't necessarily mean you survived the Land of the Dead. 🧟‍♂️💀

Those who did make it safely back to the clubhouse were rewarded with our Bone Appétit Buffet, where “Bones” the Skeleton was waiting to welcome them back from the Land of the Dead. 🦴💀 We've included a few pictures of the spread, along with a look at how the glow sticks transformed the course once the sun went down. 🌙⛳

Thanks to everyone who came out and made The Whacking Dead such a fun night!

Thursdays feel a little different around here once October rolls around.

No food trucks pulling in. No band setting up. No music coming from the Patio Stage. No dance floor filling up.

Is it weird that I already miss it? Not the work, obviously. 😂 But I definitely miss seeing everyone out here singing, dancing, laughing and having a good time every Thursday night.

So before I start thinking about next year’s lineup, I wanted to share one more video from our season finale.

That 70’s Band Chicagoland brought out plenty of ’70s music fans, and when they broke into K.C. & the Sunshine Band’s “That’s the Way (I Like It),” a whole bunch of them found their way to the dance floor. 🪩🕺

And after another summer of nights like this one, I suppose the song says it pretty well:

Live music. Food trucks. Cold drinks. A packed dance floor. And a whole bunch of people getting together to have a good time.

Before we officially put another season of Thursdays at the Pointe in the books, though, I need to thank the people who make all of this possible.

First, my staff. There is absolutely no way I could pull these Thursday nights off without you. So thank you Victoria, Angela, Ann, Erika, Summer, Wendi, Kourtney, Jaylin, Alyssa, Meghan, Cheyenne, McKenna, Gianna, Natalie, Audrey, Madison and Bryce. You guys do a lot of work that most people never see, and I appreciate every bit of it.

And to those who kept us well-fed all summer, thank you Pizza Fresca, Mario’s Taco Express, Rusty Drum BBQ and Thai Jasmine Rice & Noodles. 🌮🍕🍖

A big thank-you also goes to Hard Decks for sponsoring—and building—our Patio Stage and continuing to support live music at Timber Pointe.

And speaking of the music...what a lineup we had this year. 🎸 Thank you to every band that took our stage and gave us so many memorable Thursday nights.

Finally, and most importantly, thank you to all of you who kept showing up.

Some of you came once. Some came whenever your favorite band was playing. And quite a few of you seemed to be here just about every single Thursday.

We may put these nights together FOR you, but we certainly couldn't do them WITHOUT you and your continued loyalty and support.

Thank you for spending another summer with us. ❤️

Now I guess I better start working on Thursdays at the Pointe 2027. 😉
