BURN BAN IN EFFECT- The Ozark County Commissioners have enacted a burn ban today, Thursday, Sept. 10. Please share.
It says:
“Ozark County, Missouri
County Commission Order 9102026
COMES NOW the Ozark County Commission and having before it the matter imminent threat of disaster by the way of fire, and
WHEREAS, the fire danger is extreme due to dry air and Extreme Drought continuing in Ozark County and,
WHEREAS, the dry conditions and high winds and fire danger will continue unabated until sufficient rainfall occurs and,
WHEREAS, UPON A DETERMINATION BY THE State Fire Marshal that a burn ban order is appropriate because: An actual impending occurrence of natural disaster of major proportions within the county jeopardizes the safety and welfare of the inhabitants of Ozark County.
THEREFORE, be it hereby ordered by the Ozark County Commission that the following acts are prohibited within the boundaries of the County by all citizens and visitors:
1. Careless use of materials, including ci******es, ci**rs and smoking pipes. Discard shall be in a manner to prevent threat from smoldering remains initiation a fire.
2. Building, maintaining, attending or using any open fire or campfire except in permanent stoves, fireplaces, or barbeque grills.
3. Prescribed burning of all fence rows, field, wild land, ravines, trash, and debris. Prescribed burning may be exempted from this order where such burning is necessary and had has been specifically approved in writing by the Ozark County Director of Emergency Management (or other appropriate office of authority) of this County.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS FUIRTHER ORDERED that the knowing and willful violation of the Ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor, and any person convicted of such violation shall be punished as provided by law.
FURTHER, MAY IT BE RESOLVED that this Ordinance shall be in force and effect until action is taken by the Ozark County Commission to terminate.”
