Today is International Day of Yoga.
For me, yoga has never been about touching my toes, standing on my hands, or achieving the perfect pose.
It's been about learning how to breathe when life gets difficult.
I began practicing yoga and meditation in 1999 while serving in the military. Over the years, those practices became tools that helped me navigate stress, uncertainty, ADHD, PTSD, and the challenges that come with life after service.
What yoga taught me is simple:
Strength and stillness can exist together.
Discipline and compassion can coexist.
Healing doesn't always happen through dramatic breakthroughs. Sometimes it happens one breath at a time.
That understanding eventually became part of the foundation of Mala for Vets. Every mala I create is rooted in the belief that warriors deserve tools that support mindfulness, resilience, and healing.
Today, whether your practice lasts sixty minutes or sixty seconds, I encourage you to take a moment to breathe, slow down, and reconnect with yourself.
The pose doesn't matter.
The presence does.
Happy International Day of Yoga.
