A little about myself.

My name is Dee De Leon, and I've been in the Ponca City area since 1993.
I was a group home kid in highschool and graduated from PoHi. I went on to graduate from NOC with a degree in Criminal Justice, NWOSU with bachelors in Psychology, and Mid-America Christian University with a Masters in Clinical Psychology.
I've been with Kay County Detention Center for the last 11 years- the last several serving as Crisis Intervention Coordinator/Mental Health Coordinator/ Specialty Court Coordinator- also providing self defense training to our Detention officers. I play an active role in our community's Anna McBride Court and Drug Court, and the last few years I have enjoyed being apart of a team of CIT instructors that teaches vital skills to law enforcement agencies all around the state of Oklahoma. I spend most of my evenings as a counselor at Northern Oklahoma Youth Services.
I've been practicing martial arts since I was 16. At 19, I started taking it seriously and competing under the instruction of Master Lee Neimann. I fought on and off up until my first knee surgery. I was blessed to have had 12 years of competing; attaining numerous state titles along the way. I've also studied Jiu Jitsu, Kenpo, Capoeira, Taekwondo, Karate, Hapkido, and Krav Maga. It has always been a goal of mine to pass on the skills I've gathered, and I just love to practice martial arts.
De Leon Self Defense Academy was never created with the intention of gaining profit. I want to be in a position to offer my time and services to our community, regardless of their income restraints. I love self defense, and I feel that those skills are so important that they need to be accessible to everyone. I specialize in combat self defense, karate tournament fighting, and building up self esteem/ self respect/ and discipline. I would love to put together teams and travel to tournaments- pour into our youth and community. That takes a large time commitment and a steady amount of resources. When I'm ready to offer what I envision adequately, I will step back into it!

I've got someone that will be teaching wrestling that will be up there tomorrow evening and doing a light workout if you would to check it out and see if it's for you feel free to stop by and ask questions.

Mats and equipment were moved in over the weekend, and I will be up there throughout the week. I will be introducing a couple of wrestling coaches on staff, and we will have a soft open for July. We hope to have a more full time schedule come August and September. I am excited and ready to go. Please feel free to send a message or give me a call, thank you!

Classes will begin in July. I move into my space July 1st, and I hope to have almost all my equipment by then. If you have any sparring gear, please feel free to bring it, especially if you have some karate experience. I would love to get some experience in the class even if you're just looking to spar and have fun.

De Leon Self Defense Academy will teach a free style based self defense. It will involve a number of different martial arts, the instructions will cater to the individual needs of each person. We will work on discipline, self esteem, fitness, teamwork, real life situations and lots more. Some of the martial arts stem from Krav Maga, Karate, Jujitsu, Kenpo and Defense Tactics and more. Very affordable prices and family prices, military and veteran discount available, my team and I are looking forward to this new adventure, and all are welcome. -Dee De Leon
