Tackle the Trail

Tackle the Trail The race winds through the Air Line Trail State Park, starting in Windham, CT, and finishing in Putnam, CT. Proceeds support higher education in NE CT.

The race features a marathon, half-marathon, 10K, and relay team marathon. Tackle the Trail is a trail run put on by the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation to help local students receive a higher education. The run takes place on Connecticut's Airline trail starting in Windham CT and ending in Pomfret, CT. The race is open to individuals and teams. For more information- tacklethetrail.org

Happy National Trails Day from Tackle the Trail!
Here in Northeast CT, we are very fortunate to have many trails right in our backyard! Our race route follows the scenic Air Line State Park Trail, which is home to a variety wildlife and is a place for hikers, runners, mountain bikers, horseback riders and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy all year round! As we celebrate locally with CT Trails Day, we want to express our appreciation to Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) for taking such great care of our trails and to all the groups who love and maintain the many paths and trails in our part of the world!

It's 5 Months 'til Race Day! As we continue to countdown to Tackle the Trail, we want to share why runners from around the 🌎love our unique race:
"What an amazing part of the world to do some running in! If you are anything like me, you will spend most of your run looking around at the amazing scenery. This whole event is very well organized, and right from the time of entry to the post-race party, things ran smoothly. Digital communication was excellent, and that was backed up with on-the-day enthusiasm from the entire Tackle the Trail crew. My only regret was not spending longer in the Pomfret & Putnam CT area! Highly recommend this event - especially as part of a longer stay in the area."

Tackle the Trail pays tribute to the memory of Alice Elizabeth Uhler “Betty” Hale (1930 - 2026)
Betty was a woman of great strength and conviction who made our world a better place. Betty and her family have made an incredible impact in the lives of many through the founding of the Hale YMCA Youth & Family Center, The Hale Maternity Wing at Day Kimball Hospital, and in their generous support of youth education and wellness, including their annual sponsorship of TackleJR, our Tackle the Trail youth race.
