This winter is fixin’ to be busier than ever when it comes to the deer woods, thanks to a mix of hunting seasons old and new.
Late season deer hunting opportunities are starting soon, and hunters have the choice of flintlock, archery, or an extended fi****ms season, depending on where you’re hunting.
Given all the different opportunities in different places, hunters are strongly encouraged to brush up on rules before heading afield, but here’s some of the basics…
Archery and Flintlock Seasons:
WMUs 2B, 5C, & 5D archery and flintlock run Dec. 26-Jan. 24, 2026
STATEWIDE archery and flintlock run Dec. 26-Jan. 19, 2026
IMPORTANT – Flintlock hunters ONLY can use their unfilled antlered harvest tag to harvest an antlerless deer.
Extended Fi****ms ANTLERLESS ONLY seasons:
Statewide DMAP properties: Dec. 26-Jan. 24, 2026
WMUs 2B, 5C, & 5D: Dec. 26-Jan. 24, 2026
WMUs 4A, 4C, 4D, & 5A: Jan. 2-Jan. 19, 2026
To participate in any extended fi****ms season, you need an antlerless license for the open WMUs or a DMAP permit for DMAP properties. No antlered tags can be used during the extended fi****ms season.
IMPORTANT – Extended fi****ms season hunters MUST meet the fluorescent orange requirements for fi****ms season (250 sq. in. on head, back, and chest).
SUNDAY REMINDER: There are no Sunday opportunities during late season.
