🥎 What an incredible four days for Pocomoke Little League and our community! 🥎
Now that we have closed the books on the 2026 Maryland State Junior & Senior Softball Tournaments, we want to take a moment to reflect on what was accomplished—not only on the field, but by the many people who came together to make this event a success.
Over four days, Pocomoke Little League proudly welcomed:
• 10 teams representing 6 Maryland districts
• Approximately 130 players
• 30 coaches
• Umpires from Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware
• An estimated 600 spectators
Opening Day featured lunch for every player and coach, Opening Ceremonies, and a full day of outstanding softball that showcased the very best of Little League.
One of our biggest accomplishments came on Monday, when we successfully operated four fields simultaneously—hosting eight teams, eight umpires, four District Administrators, announcers, official scorekeepers, concession operations, and volunteers all at the same time. It was an enormous undertaking with countless moving parts, but everything came together seamlessly.
Our concession stand was open all four days and stayed busy serving players, families, and fans. Along the way we served nearly 200 orders of French fries, more than 100 cheeseburgers, 111 fresh-squeezed lemonades, countless cold drinks, and much more.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Worcester County Recreation & Parks for their continued investment in our complex through outstanding field preparation, the new batting cage turf, and new outfield fencing. We’d also like to thank the City of Pocomoke City for providing the large tent and picnic tables that gave players, coaches, and families a comfortable place to gather throughout the tournament.
A huge thank you also goes to everyone who helped behind the scenes. Our concession stand simply could not have operated without your dedication. We’d especially like to recognize Beverly Cowger-Glogovics, who was there from start to finish every single day. Thank you to Larry Cowger for cooking on Opening Day, and to Kayla and Carina for being there throughout three of the four tournament days. We also appreciate every announcer, scorekeeper, volunteer, board member, and anyone who stepped up whenever and wherever they were needed.
One of the things that meant the most to us was the feedback we received throughout the weekend. Visiting teams, coaches, families, officials, and umpires repeatedly told us how friendly and welcoming everyone was—not just at our ballpark, but throughout the City of Pocomoke. They complimented our beautiful fields and complex, our hospitality, and the overall experience they had while visiting our community. Those are compliments that belong to our entire town.
This tournament also highlighted something we’ve experienced throughout the entire 2026 season. We accomplished a tremendous amount with a very small core group of volunteers. The same dedicated individuals gave countless hours while balancing full-time jobs, family responsibilities, and other commitments. On one tournament day alone, many of those volunteers put in nearly 12-hour days to ensure everything ran smoothly.
While we’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished, we also know this isn’t sustainable. If we want to continue providing the outstanding experience our players deserve, continue hosting tournaments that showcase our community, and continue growing Pocomoke Little League, we need more people to become involved. There is truly a place for everyone, and even a few hours of your time can make a tremendous difference. As we prepare for next season, we’ll be sharing information about upcoming board meetings and public meetings, and we hope you’ll consider joining us.
Finally, congratulations once again to our 2026 Maryland State Junior Softball Champions and our 2026 Maryland State Senior Softball Champions. Thank you for allowing Pocomoke Little League to host your championship tournament, and best of luck as you continue your Little League journeys.
From everyone at Pocomoke Little League…thank you for helping us showcase not only our league, but the hospitality, pride, and spirit of our entire community.
💙💛
