🏇🛶🚲🏃‍♀️ WOMEN’S CHALLENGE — FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We’ve received quite a few questions about our first Women’s Challenge! Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Q: Why is the Women’s Challenge 18+?
This year, the Women’s Challenge is open to women 18 years and older. We already have a race available for our youth during Festival, so this challenge was created specifically as an adult women’s event. Possibly in the future we will allow younger.

Q: Why are you only accepting 5 teams?
This is our first year hosting the Women’s Challenge, and we consider this our trial year. We are starting with 5 teams so we can see how the event runs, gauge competitor and community interest, and learn what we can improve on. We hope to continue growing the event in future years!

Q: Why is there a $50 entry fee?
The entry fee is $50 per team, and the money collected from entry fees will go toward prizes for the contestants.

Q: Why was the race announced so late?
Planning our first Women’s Challenge required coordination with multiple departments before we could finalize and officially announce the event. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we worked out the details!

Q: Why is it a two-person team race?
Since this is our first year and the event was announced later than we originally hoped, competitors have had limited time to prepare and train. We chose a two-person team format to divide the physical demands of the challenge and help prevent competitors from becoming overly exhausted. We want this first year to be competitive, fun, and manageable for everyone involved.

Q: How old do the helpers have to be? Do they have to be women?
There is no set age or gender requirement for helpers. Helpers can be male or female and may be any age, as long as they are physically capable of safely assisting with tasks such as managing the kayak and helping with the bicycle, and horse.

The women-only and 18+ requirements apply to competitors, not helpers.

Q: Is the horse portion ba****ck?
Yes! The horse portion is a ba****ck race. Competitors participating in the horse portion are asked to ride their horse ba****ck.

Q: Are there restrictions on bicycles?
There are no specific bicycle regulations. Competitors may use the bicycle of their choice as long as it is not electric or gas powered.

Q: Is there a regulation on paddle size?
No. There is no restriction on paddle size.

Q: What are the kayak requirements?
Kayaks must be under 10 feet long, and competitors participating in the water portion must wear a life jacket.

Competitors are welcome to bring their own kayak, paddle, and life jackets

❤️ Thank you for all the questions and interest in our first Women’s Challenge!

This is our first year putting on this event, and we know there will be things we learn along the way. This year will help us see what works, what we can improve, and how we can make the Women’s Challenge even better in the years to come!

Keep the questions coming! If there is something you’re unsure about, feel free to ask. 💪🏽🏇🛶🚲🏃‍♀️
