No motor. No assistance. Just legs.

The Z Tread only moves as fast as the athlete pushes it, which makes it one of the most honest pieces of equipment we own. You either drive the ground away or you stand still.

Coaching cue of the day: don't run on it — push the ground away from you.

This is what a coached rep actually sounds like.

Squat and press at two speeds. Chest tall, weight through the heels. Full depth on the slam board — calves to hamstrings, big toes in the box. Then the RDL, which is where most athletes go wrong: the knees and hips travel back, but the knees don't straighten and they don't bend more. It's a hinge, not a squat. If the weight is pulling you out of position, drop it.

That's the difference between working out and training. Every athlete in this room has someone watching the details.

Every August, same three mistakes — and it's typically not the athlete's fault.

1️⃣ Conditioning by exhaustion. Running kids into the ground doesn't build speed, it builds fatigue and pulled hamstrings. Fast athletes are trained fresh, in short bursts, with real rest.

2️⃣ Skipping the strength base. More reps on an unprepared body isn't "toughness" — it's an overuse injury waiting to happen. Strength is built before the season, then maintained… not maxed in week one.

3️⃣ Treating the warm-up like a formality. A lap and a few static stretches don't prepare anyone to sprint, cut, and decelerate — the exact moments athletes get hurt. Dynamic prep + smart load + sleep beat any brace.

None of this means your coaches are bad — most were handed the old playbook. But the athletes who train smart in August are the ones still standing in October.

Mic'ed up for sled push day on the Z Tread. These athletes start the treadmill with their legs, not the motor.

At 25-35% grade they take the first few steps violently pushing the belt, then once momentum is generated they let go and run as hard as they can.

Coaches are watching their mph climb, and pull them off once they hit their peak and start slowing down. A wild, and effective workout for a variety of athletes.

Clean mechanics are what hold up when the game gets fast and tired. Real coaching, every step. 📍Pocatello, ID. Message us to book your athlete's session.

This is coaching, not supervising. Every interval, our coaches are right there — "down and back, aggressive, keep pushing" — pulling more out of the athlete than they'd ever get on their own. That relationship is why athletes keep coming back to Atlas. 📍Pocatello, ID. Message us to set up a session for your athlete.

"Do so much work that it becomes unreasonable that you fail." That's the mindset every athlete walks in with at Atlas — and the one they walk out with. Whether your kid is chasing a starting spot or a college roster, the work is the shortcut. We just make sure it's the right work. 📍Pocatello, ID. Message us to set up your athlete's first session.

Motivation gets you started. Discipline is what shows up on the boring days — same drills, same reps, same grind, over and over. That's not monotony. That's the road to growth. 💪
