My name is Brieanne Poirier (Riccio is my married name) and my grandmother Caroline Poirier bought a cottage right on the sand on Saquish many, many years ago. She raised my father there, spent years and years there with my grandfather and her boys. I spent so many summers on that sand. Unfortunately, my father died when I was 5 so I didn’t have much time with him but when I went to Saquish I felt him there. My grandmother has since sold the cottage and unfortunately a man bought it and started the renovation but never finished it. I believe our cottage may be up for sale again but I’m not 100% sure. Back in the day we used CB radios, I’m sure things have changed lol and her handle was PinkPanther.
I have spent years trying to connect with someone who knew my grandmother or who recognizes the name Poirier. Saquish holds such a huge emotional part of my heart and I would love to be able access the beach again to take my kids which would of course would require a rental. I cannot find any listings anywhere to rent a cottage unfortunately. My grandmother also led and ran the Fourth of July parade so decades! I assume things have changed so much on the island so maybe you have no idea what I’m talking about but like I said I figured I’d ask! Thank you for taking the time reading this!
