Some of you following the feed may be wondering, "wasn't Beat the Devil Racing going to race at BIR this weekend?". Well, We certainly tried, but fell victim to the ire of the Race Gods once again. While taking the car out on Friday for a Test and Tune, the upper radiator hose decided it had enough of the engine's nonsense and ejected itself free from the block. While the engine was shut down immediately, this gesture was more than enough for the engine to be emotionally (and thermally) devastated. It warped its head in a fit of anguish, and we were unable to console it back to a fit and healthy state. However, plans are already being made to better the car in preparation of our next planned race in August at High Plains Raceway in CO. Stay tuned for details as they come.

Well it's been a pretty crazy couple of days, as the car up and died during its maiden voyage yesterday. So after some late night diagnostics, the problem was isolated and repaired. Come this morning, and one more test drive for about 15 minutes gets it the "Should Work" seal of approval. Next stop: Brainerd.

After consulting with some people on the internet, I'm trying their advice of cutting two cylinders off the front of the engine to solve our problems. After getting creative with a sawzall and a LOT of JB Weld, I've manged to get a good start. I also got the gauge senders mounted back in place.

Is this thing on?
So the car has been pulled out of storage and some work is already underway. While looking over the engine to assess the damage from last year, Charlie noticed that a frost plug was missing from the engine. Now Lee assured him that this piece was entirely unnecessary, but he insisted that we do everything we can to keep water in the engine. So it's been replaced. Additionally, fenders have been fitted back on the car, which really helps it look like a real car again. It'll need more parts replaced, but it's a fine start. More details as things develop.

Sorry for the lack of updates, we've been having technical difficulties and a busy day. So after a fantastic day of racing, dicing with other teams, we finished the race a bit... upside-down... Literally. Video and pictures will be posted soon.
