I’m very blessed that something I’m passionate about, jiu jitsu, is also something I get to bring and teach at my job. I’m beyond fortunate that I have a friend who is just as driven and knowledgeable.

For a couple months now I’ve been secretly putting my buddy Jake to the test. Having students roll with him, seeing how he teaches, and ultimately seeing his desire to further the art. This week I continued to test him, and get feedback back from people I truly trust.

It’s was my pleasure to promote him to a brown belt in brazilian jiu jitsu. And I am very pleased that the first thing he wanted to talk about was his path to black belt. Always moving forward.

If you don’t train it might seem an odd concept. To be so passionate about grappling. But there’s a beauty, and empowerment to the art you can’t find in many placRyan Fiorenzi confident as my professor Ryan Fiorenzi did with me, I will continue to do with my friend Jake. To raise the tide so that all ships may rise, and our abilities may grow.

Congratulation Jake, well deserved.

Started the morning learning the Gracie safewrap (picture looks like a rap album cover). Followed by some rolling with two stellar jiu jitsu masters.

Just now finished jiu jitsu 80. Three advanced leg lock entries, 30 reps on the first two, and 25 on the final entry.

Great times.
