Today, the private and historic Las Vegas Country Club opened its gates to VGA Nevada and hosted one of our events on its course for the very first time. A special shoutout to our State Director, Michael Kaczmarek for his outstanding effort ts in
coordinating with the club's Tournament Director, which was not an easy process and required a great deal of communication and follow up, but Kaz ultimately made ihappen. Thank you Kaz for creating a memorable day for our group.

A quick piece of Las Vegas Country Club history is a memorable scene in the 1995 film Casino where a small aircraft connected to organized crime is pursued by federal agents and crashes into a pond on the course. The scene was inspired by a real 1981 incident involving an FBI surveillance plane that made an emergency landing on the course. Today, a replica airplane (pictured) sits in the pond between the 10th and 11th
holes, serving as a unique landmark and tribute to the event that became part of Las Vegas history and was later immortalized in the movie.

Yesterday was perhaps VGA Nevada's last event at Desert Pines Golf Club as it suppose to close in the very near future unfortunately. This is great course with tight fairways and lots of bunkers. As is the norm in Vegas this time of year....it was hot, around 105 with a breeze.

Little slow with posting this one. Last Sunday at the famous Bali Hai Golf Club located just outside the Vegas strip. The course couldn't have been in any better shape as VGA Nevada had another scorching but beautiful day of golf with temps around 105 and windy. But it didn't affect the sprit or camaraderie for the 23 golfers who came out to play. Congratulations to all the winners.

VGA Nevada played another warm one today at Chimera Golf Club in Henderson. We teed off at 0700 and the temp was 85. But by the time we finished around 1130 we were at 105 and going up. Hydration was key for our 32 golfers. Summer is going to be warm one this year. On the hole 3 par 3 we had Wounded Warrior Project Hole in One contest that several members participated in. Unfortunately no Hole in Ones...but lots of donations to a worthy cause.

VGA Nevada had a big presence this year at the VGA West Region Senior Qualifier at The Club at Castlewood in Pleasanton, CA. Congratulations to Jaime Rodriguez, Roderick Golphin and Troy Orosco (who won a sudden-death playoff match for the final spot) in the Senior C flight to advance to Nationals. Thank you also to the The Club at Castlewood for hosting a great event.

It was a HOT one out there today (100 +) as we played at the famed Las Vegas National Golf Club....past home of the Rat Pack (Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr and Frank Sinatra to name a few). It has also been the home of past LPGA /PGA events and was where Tiger Woods won his first PGA tour victory. Lot's of history on the course and around it, as it is also surrounded by several homes where the top headliners and sport figures of the 50's and 60's lived.
