๐ฅ๐ฅ WHAT'S IN THE CASE? โ FAIRFIELD CARD SHOW EDUCATION DROP! ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Craig from Craig Buys Cards is breaking down one of the most iconic rookies of the 1980s โ raw or graded โ the 1982 Topps Traded Cal Ripken Jr. Rookie Card ๐ฅโพ
This isnโt just any Ripkenโฆ this is the Traded rookie card that launched the Iron Manโs cardboard legacy!
๐ Hereโs the hobby knowledge:
Topps first introduced โTradedโ cards in the 1974 set and then released them again in 1976.
In 1981, Topps brought back the Traded concept as a limited 132-card boxed set that continued the base set numbering starting at #783.
In 1982, Topps added a โTโ next to the card numbers for the Traded set.
Ripkenโs first appearance is in the 1982 Topps base set on card #21, a three-player rookie card shared with Bob Bonner and Jeff Schneider.
Later, Topps included Ripken in the Traded set on his own solo card โ and these were produced in very limited quantities and only available in factory set form.
๐ฅ The 1982 Topps Traded Ripken is notorious for:
โ Bad centering
โ Rough edges
โ Print marks
Condition is EVERYTHING on these cards!!!
And rememberโฆ centering, surface gloss, edges, and corners separate a nice card from a BIG card ๐ฐ๐ฐ
Craig doesnโt just buy cards โ he EDUCATES collectors so you know exactly what you have.
