Our 6 months cooking break came to an end as we ventured out to the RGV for Smokin' on the Rio BBQ Cook-Off in Mercedes. The valley has my heart and so many wonderful memories were made there as a kid so it was an easy decision. Even though I knew it would be a tough competition. Errrone knows the best of the best cook in the valley & almost 190 teams came to win!

At the end of the day I was ok with our results (except the 🐷)

I love a spring time cookoff..and a bonus if it’s in my hometown & run by the best head judge in CBA Brenda Waters!

This weekend we cooked the All Fired Up Benefit cookoff in Pleasanton. I loved the sweet boy whos the recipient this year. He truly warmed our hearts.

Cook went as smooth as I hoped until turn in time..I wasn’t happy with some of our turn ins..but the judges thought otherwise (thank god!)

Blessed to come home with:

2nd Snake River Farms brisket
14th chicken
18th pork
38th ribs
Finished 8th overall out of 65 fabulous teams!!

Congratulations to Smoking & Toasting Cesar Mejia on a huge GC win and Triple Up bbq on a great RGC win and everyone who heard their song played!

As always, a BIG THANK YOU to Ramsey Robles Ramsey-Pate Landscape Irrigation for keeping the fires under control!

Took a short trip to Poteet for the 2nd Annual Texas DPS Troopers Foundation Burn & Turn cookoff for our unbeknownst to us Quincenera. 🤣

14th chicken
15th ribs
15th brisket
4th place fajitas
5th place margaritas
And got one walk with a
1st place cooks choice.
Finishing 15th overall.

Huge HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to my sweet friend Joyce Regino Smoke & Grit BBQ for her amazing GC WIN!! 🩷

We made the short trip this weekend to the 11th Annual DJ Carlson Bust n Burn Cookoff in Devine.
In August I got a birthday gift from Ramsey that paid off this weekend. An all inclusive bbq class hosted by Regi-Q BBQ. It had been a year and 1/2 since I placed in the top 10 with chicken. But this weekend we finally broke that losing streak and came home with:
3rd place dessert
4th place chicken
7th place pork
10th place brisket
28th ribs 😳
Finishing just one out of the top 10.. #11 out of 37 great teams.

Congratulations to our friends from Beerbelly‘s BBQ on their super CG WIN & Bubba Bobbyrey Delgado on his amazing RGC! 🎉🎉

Thank you to our favorite head judge Brenda Waters for always running a smooth judging room. We appreciate all your hard work & dedication! 😘
