Hey Alaska Equestrians!!!
Are you thinking of entering The Great Alaska Endurance Race? You want to make sure you’re prepared. I have a free ride-at-your-own-risk adventure. On June 27th, we are meeting at the Upper Chena Dome trailhead at 10 am. Ride to the bench on the top of Chena Dome and back (approx 7 miles total) Dr Llanes will be doing a little education on TPR to prepare us for the race and offering chiropractic adjustments for the low low price of $90 to our ponies afterward.
What to bring:
Saddle packs with snacks for you and your pony, first aid kit for you and your pony, water, hoof pick, bug spray, sunscreen, bear preparedness. Also, it would be a good idea if you have them: a thermometer, stethoscope, and watch with a second hand.
$5 for parking. Support our national forest and help fund the outhouse cleanliness.
Objectives- only do what your pony is fit to do. This is about learning to know your horse.

Hey guys!! How is everyone doing this spring and how is it going legging your horses up? I personally am having a blast and have put more miles on my horse consecutively this spring than I have i a long time.
Its been fun having to dive into some logistics also.
Riding a few miles further each ride, and picking up or slowing down my pace to find that sweet spot for being able to hold a pace for long distance.
Doing the math of what pace i need to complete 50 miles in 11 hrs in.
Do you have a pace per mile your aiming for?
The map my run app have been awesome, it alerts you out loud what mile you have finished and what your split time was.
I found a awesome hydration backpack for water and a first aide kit, knife, head lamp and bear spray. Taking some getting used to wearing it.
I've also had to play around with my horses diet and got her locked in for the new caloric demand on her. Along with electrolytes for water consumption.

Can't wait to see everyone this fall!

Shameless personal review from me: After years of getting the run-around from other Docs in the State Dr Prevost took one look at my Xrays and had me scheduled for a full hip replacement that day. After almost a decade in pain, I was up and walking hours after my surgery, and back on a horse within a couple of Months. They're the real deal, and VERY well versed in people who wear their parts out through shenanigans and misadventure.
