I get this question quite a bit and the answer depends entirely on what your goal is.
•
Every fitness plan should include a combination of both Cardio and Strength Training, but the intensity should be given to the format supporting your goal.
•
If your primary goal is weight loss you should attack your cardio first, so you can give it the most energy!
•
If your goal is muscle or weight gain…hit that bro-sesh hard, then do a little cardio to keep that heart healthy.
•
Intensity (and consistency) is key to reaching any fitness goal, so give the most toward the type training that gets you to your goal.

This year I ran my very first full marathon and let’s face it…I am NOT a runner. It was a struggle every run and I worked hard just to be mediocre. And that’s OK..I stayed in it, accomplished my goal, and checked it off the bucket list.
•
One of the things I learned is the value of active recovery. The last thing I wanted to do after a Sunday long run, is a Monday “recovery” run. Like really? Are you F*** kidding me? It just didn’t make sense to me how more running would help me feel better after killing myself the day before……but its TRUE!
•
Doing a short easy run helped me recover faster. It also helped me mentally to know that even when I feel like I’ve reached my limit I can always do more.
•
So when you’re sore, move a little…you will feel better!
