Weekly Update!

Hello everyone! We’ve had a great weekend at the meet, congrats to all of our athletes on some great swims!

Practice Schedule: We will have regular practices Monday-Thursday this week. There will be no practice on Friday due to a HS swim meet and no practice on Saturday due to the COOL meet at PCCCN.
Team Merge: There has been chatter on social media and the NLU meet regarding the poll sent out last week. The poll closed on Saturday afternoon. Per the comments on the poll, we will be doing a revote between COOL and Riptide. Club North has been eliminated as a result of this poll. While CNS and COOL shared the most First Choice votes, Club North had an overwhelming number of Third Choice votes (more than the other teams combined). Riptide was just one First Choice vote away from a three-way tie. I’m happy to share the detailed graph/results if anyone is interested, just let me know. Please complete the updated poll through the link in your email. The poll will close on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The final results will be released on Thursday or Friday. Each family will get ONE vote. If there are duplicate votes from a family, one will be eliminated if they are the same and both will be eliminated if they differ. Please fill out the form regardless of your decision. There will be an “abstain” option. I want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.
COOL Rock the Blocks: Fees for those registered for this meet will be processed this week. Please let me know if you have any questions. I’ll send out meet info to those registered once I receive it.
Team Activities: We are wanting to do some team activities over the next few weeks! If you have any suggestions, send them our way.

The 2024 Blue Wave Swim-A-Thon is coming up quickly!

Our Swim-A-Thon will be on Friday, November 8th. This will be held in our home natatorium at the Platte County Community Center North in Platte City. During Swim-A-Thon, swimmers will have a two-hour period in which to swim 200 lengths (100 laps). Not enough of a challenge - Then go for 200 Laps. Donors are encouraged to support our swimmers by pledging to support their efforts as a flat donation, or per length/lap donations.

Thank you for a great meet this past weekend! We could not have done it without the support of our amazing families and volunteers.

To recap, here are some swimmer highlights:
Maggie A improved her 200 FR by 15.38% and her 100 FL by 12.26%
Elise D improved her 50 Breast by 17.78% and her 50 FL by 19.3%
Emily J improved her 200 IM by 14.19%, her 100 BK by 15.93% and her 100 FR by 20.20%
Asher G improved his 500 FR by 13.95%
Carter M improved his 200 FR by 12.14%

Carter (Hur/Sr) and Zoey (Prep/Typ) were awarded the team spirit awards for this meet!

TL;DR:
1. Practice Schedule: This week will be full practice Monday through Friday.
2. NLU Sprint Decathlon: Meet information including arrival times, WU, Coach Coverage, and sessions will be sent when that information is available from the meet host to those participating.
3. USA & Team Registration: USA Swimming registration is now open.
4. USA vs YMCA Swimming
5. Equipment: Swimmers now need their equipment at practice.
6. Blue Wave October Invite: This is our team's hosted meet that will take place the weekend of October 5th & 6th at our home pool. All swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate and all families are required to volunteer.
7. JCAY Invite: This is a YMCA meet held at the Jefferson City YMCA Knowles Center. Read the full update for details.
8. Swim Meet Rewards: Our swimmers work hard and deserve a little reward. These will be finalized and presented in the coming weeks.
