Blue Wave Week of March 27- April 2
Dear Blue Wave family,
Only Nationals swimmers (April 3-7) are left as we turn to our Long-Course Meters (LCM) season.
As you plan ahead for this week, please note the following items:
1. Practice on 3/30 & 3/31 and 4/3-7 will be for ALL swimmers from 5:30-7. This will be a stroke clinic format with a deck learning segment followed by a swim. This helps us start with a focus on skills and techniques needing the most focus after the winter session.
2. Coach/Parent/Swimmer conferences are March 27-28. Sign-ups are posted on our website where you see meets and other team events. The event is called Swimmer Conferences. Click on “Job signup” and choose a time for your conference. There are just a few slots left so please hurry to sign-up! Remember, swimmers attend these 15-minute conferences with their parents, so plan accordingly. We look forward to sharing our observations about your swimmer’s progress, and learning from you, too.

3. Looking ahead at practice modifications: We expect that on 3/29 & 4/13 there will be modified practices due to Middle School swim meets using our pool. More on the 4/13 modification as we get details from the Middle School. Fun Night 3/29 led by Amie Wilson. All participants will meet in the gym at 5:30 and games will run till 7pm.
4. Registration for Long-Course season:The evenings of the conferences are great times to do your LCM season registration so that you will be ready and able to practice starting Thursday, March 30th! We will use the same practice schedule as we have used through the end of the school year. If your swimmer is only participating through 6/4 (Spring) rather than the entire long-course season, you will need to contact Coach Brent to register.
5. Minsky’s Slice of Donation Fundraiser: On Tuesday, March 28th we will have a fundraiser with Minsky’s Pizza across from Zona Rosa. Mark your calendars for this event to raise money for our team, and invite your friends and family to participate. The flier is posted in the event on our site. Please distribute it to folks so they can help support our team, too. We receive 20% of the proceeds from all orders that day (dine-in, deliver, and carryout) that are flagged as for the BWST fundraiser. Remember that you have to tell them you are ordering your food as part of the Blue Wave Swim Team fundraiser for our team to benefit. This is only for the Barry Road West location of Minsky’s: https://minskys.com/barry-road-west/
6. Swimming is a great sport for our children. You can help them grow as an athlete and as a human being through swimming. You cannot do it alone, but your village is ready with your help to meet the challenge. Officials are a key element in accomplishing this, so we ask you to become a Stroke & Turn Official. Read more about it at this link: Become an Official.

One step you will read about is to go to a Stroke & Turn Clinic, and the first opportunity will be this Saturday, April 1st, 1:00-2:30 PM. No registration is needed; just show up. If you have any questions, you can talk with any official or call Kurt Sortland (702) 526-2572, one of our officials chairpersons.
Location: Kirk Family YMCA
222 W 11th St.
Kansas City, MO 64105
7. Summer Meet Schedule: All the LCM meets are now loaded in our team site for you to begin planning. Our first meet will be April 21-23 in Topeka, followed by our home meet, the Platte City 500 (May 6-7). Please note that our Platte City 500 is a HOME AND HOSTED meet. We will need volunteers to help run this meet, and each family is required to donate at least two volunteer shifts to the effort. Thank you for planning now to help with this venture!

If you have not yet paid them, please call the welcome center (816.858.0114) or come by in person between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to settle up. You can also send the last 4 digits and CVC of the card on file to be run via an email to Coach Brent. For your swimmer to register for the upcoming season, all fees must be paid in full.
