OFFENSE - NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM AND OFFENSIVE CENTER AND THE RIMINGTON TROPHY AWARD WINNER - WEEK #18

OC Landon Dickerson (6-6, 308, 5.22, 4.92) ( #69 in Photo) of The Alabama Crimson Tide Was an Incredible Offensive Center All of The 2020 Football Season. In That Incredible Football Season, Dickerson Was Selected as a First Team All-American Center; Won The Re*****on Trophy Award as The #1 Center in The Country; Was a Finalist For The Outland Trophy Award as The #1 Offensive Lineman in The Country; Was a First Team All-SEC; Was a Member of The Alabama Offensive Line That Was Awarded The Joe Moore Trophy as The Top Offensive Line in The Country; and Dickerson Shared With His Teammate, Alex Leatherwood, The SEC Jacobs Blocking Trophy.

Dickerson Was a Graduate-Transfer From Florida State in 2019. He Arrived in Tuscaloosa Just Before Fall Camp Started and He Earned a Starting Position on The Starting Offensive Line and He Then Was Selected To The Second Team All-SEC.

Dickerson Had Some Incredible Player Stats in 2020. He Recorded an Incredible Run-Blocking Grade of 91.3 and Another Incredible 99.6 Grade on Other Blocking Assignments in The Entire Year of 2020 Campaign, Before His Season-Ending Injury.

Then, After All of Those Fabulous Honors in 2020, Dickerson Suffered a Season-Ending Injury Against The Florida Gators in The SEC Championship Game. He Then, Had Knee Surgery To Repair His Knee After He Had Damaged His Knee Ligament.

Although it Was No-Surprise To The Crimson Tide Players and Coaches, as To What They Were Seeing. It Was a Huge Surprise To The Crimson Tide Fans, Because The Fans Knew That Dickerson Was Lost For The Season With a Season-Ending Knee Surgery, So There Was Indeed a Huge Surprise When They Looked-Up and Saw Dickerson Getting Ready To Snap The Football on The Last Play of The National Championship Game.

In Getting To-Snap The Football It Gave Dickerson The Opportunity To Get The Feeling To Be Able To Share The Incredible Feeling of Winning The National Championship. This Was All Done After Less Than Four Weeks After Suffering Major Knee Surgery.

"This Experience Was an Amazing Experience," Said Dickerson. "It Was Something I Could Really Only Dream-About Until it Actually Happened."

"Being Able To Go-Out-There For One Last Play With My Teammates and To Be Able To Be Apart of Something Really Special, Because This Type of Opportunity Only Comes-Around Once in a Lifetime!"

In This Game, Tom Brady Completed 26 of 41passes for a Fabulous 399-Yards and 4 Touchdowns and Although Brady is a Real Passing Quarterback, and Not Normally a Dual Threat Quarterback, in This Game, He Rushed For 3-Yards and it Gave Him an Incredible 402-Yards, 4 Touchdowns, and 40 Touchdown Passes For The Season and This Very Important Victory.

Dual Threat QB - Cam Newton (6-5, 245, 4.46, 4.18) of The New England Patriots Was Also Incredible in The 28-14 Victory Over The New York Jets as He Completed 21 of 30 Passes For 242-Yards and 3 Touchdowns. Newton Was Also The Game Leading Rusher With 79-Yards and He Also Caught a Pass For Another 19-Yards and a Touchdown, Giving Him an Incredible 340-Yards 4 Touchdowns, and a Great 127.4 QB Rating.

In This Game, Wolford Threw an Interception on His First Pass of The Game, But Then, He Finished The Game As An Inexperienced, Fearless, Young Quarterback and Leading His Rams Team Back Into The NFL Playoffs.

In This Game, This Rookie, Wolford, Only Completed 22 of 38 Passes For 231-Yards, But He Also Rushed For Another 56-Yards and Giving His 287-Yards of Total Offense in The Victory.

Dual Threat QB - Baker Mayfield (6-1, 215, 4.72, 4.28) of The Cleveland Browns Was Incredible In The 24-22 Victory Over The Pittsburgh Steelers The Incredible Mayfield Threw a Touchdown Pass and Made Some Unbelievable Incredible Runs In The Second Half in Leading The Browns into The NFL Playoffs For The First Time Since 2002, But They Had To-Survive a Last Minute Pittsburgh Steeler Rally To Beat The Browns.

In This Game, Baker Mayfield Completed 17 of 27 Passes For 196-Yards and 1 Touchdown and He Rushed For Another 44-Yards on Some Unbelievable Key Runs on Some First Downs, Giving Him 240-Yards and 1 Touchdown of Total Offense in The Huge Victory For The Cleveland Browns.

Dual Threat QB -Josh Allen (6-5, 237, 4.62, 4.4) of The Buffalo Bills Was Outstanding in The 56-26 Victory Over The Miami Dolphins as He Completed 18 of 25 Passes For 224-Yards and 3 Touchdowns and He Also Rushed For Another 3-Yards, Giving Him 227-Yards and 3 Touchdowns of Total Offense in The Victory and All of This Was in The First Half.

Dual Threat QB - Russell Wilson (5-11, 204, 4.52, 4.09) of The Seattle Seahawks Had a Slow Start and The Seahawks Fell Behind 16-6, but He Then Connected On Two Fourth Quarter Touchdown Passes To Tyler Lockett and The Seahawks Rallied For an Incredible 26-23 Victory Over The San Francisco 49ers.

In This Game, Russell Wilson Completed 20 of 36 Passes For 181-Yards and Those Two Fourth Quarter Touchdowns To Lockett. Wilson Also Rushed For Another 29-Yards, Giving Him 210-Yards and 2 Touchdowns of Total Offense in The Come-From-Behind Victory.

When Drew Brees (In Photo) Was a Sophomore in High School, He Actually Was Considering Playing Baseball in College, Instead of College Football. He Was Thinking College Baseball, Because As a Junior, He Tore His ACL and He Did Nor Have a Highlight Film, as a Junior and Consequently, He Did Not Have a Highlight Film For College Coaches To View and Evaluate His Passing Tremendous Skills.

Since Drew Brees Did Not Have Any Junior Season Highlight Game Film, There Also Was Absolutely No Info on Drew Brees by The Politically Motivated Sportswriters and With No Knowledge on Him.
Then, as His Senior Season Came and Was Over, Most Every College Team Had Already Gotten Their Quarterback Commitments, We Now Find-Out That Drew Brees Had Passed For 3,528-Yards, 31 Touchdowns, and He Had Led His Team To The 5A Division 2 State Championship.

I Was on The Austin Westlake Sideline in The Semi-Finals Game Against a Very Good Aldine High School Football Team as Drew Brees Completely Dominated The Game and Gave His Westlake Team To The State Championship Game With a 15-0 Record.

The Very Next Weekend, I Was Also on The Sideline Again as Drew Brees and His Westlake Chaparrals Team Was Playing For The State Championship Against another Very Good Abilene Cooper Team and Drew Brees and His Team Won That Game 55-15.

We Later Found Out That The Austin Westlake, Chaparrals Behind Quarterback Drew Brees Had Won All 16 Games By a Double-Digit Score in Winning The Texas 1996 5A D-2 State Championship.

In 29 Starts in Two Seasons at Quarterback, Drew Brees Was Outright Incredible With a 28-0-1 Record, but He Was Not Being Heavily or Even Being Recruited Because He Did Not Have Enough Complete Starts and He Never Was Abler To Make The College Coaches Lists, Despite His Incredible Passing Stats.

So What Happened Next?

Well! My Good Friend and Super Passing Coach and Super Offensive Coordinator, Jim Chaney, Had Just Taken The Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach at Purdue For New Head Football Coach Joe Tiller and So I Called Coach Chaney and Told Him About Drew Brees.

This Call To Coach Chaney Was in The Middle of December of 1996 and Then He Called Me Back in January To-Tell Me That They Were Having Drew Brees in For His Official Visit at The End of The Month in January, Just Before National Signing Day in February.

Coach Chaney Told Me That Coach Tiller Loved Brees on His State Championship Game Film. I also Found Out Later That Coach Tiller Fell In-Love With Drew Brees When He Walked Into His Office On His Official Visit. Both Coach Chaney and Coach Tiller Were Unbelievably Excited After Brees Committed To-Play His Football at Purdue University. They Were Even More Excited When Drew Brees Was a Heisman Trophy Finalist on Two Occasions in His Illustrious Purdue Football Career.

Then, In 1997, Kliff Kingsbury (In Photo) Played Played His High School Football For His Dad, Tim Kingsbury, at New Braunfels High School in New Braunfels, Texas.

There Was Absolutely No-Info on Kliff Kingsbury as a Junior, After his Junior Football Season and Since There Was No Information on Him, He Was Not Able To Make it To A Single College Coaches Football Recruiting Lists. I Certainly Know For a Fact That There Was No Info, Because in 1997, I Searched and I Did Not Find Anything.
As I Was Searching For His Info, I Did Find-Out That There Was a Great Quarterback at New Braunfels and That He Had Led His Team To Victory, Four or Five Times, After Being Behind in The Third Quarter.

Then, I Found Out That He Had 3,009-Yards Passing and 34 Touchdown Passes in Leading His New Braunfels Team To The 5A Division 2 Semi-Finals and a Great 13-2 Record.

After Getting His Senior Game Highlight Film From His Dad, I Watched About Two Minutes of His Highlight Film and I Did Not Need To-See Any More, Because I Saw a Great Passing Quarterback, and With My Recruiting Service, I Knew a Lot of College Coaches Who Were Looking For a Quarterback Like Kliff Kingsbury.

I Also Knew a Few Coaches Who Needed an Immediate Quarterback and One of Them Was My Good Friend Jackie Sherrill at Mississippi State and So I Immediately Called Him.

Coach Sherrill Was Unbelievably Excited After I Gave Him My Evaluation and To My Surprise, Coach Sherrill Immediately called Kliff Kingsbury, or His Dad and Set-Up an Official Visit For The Coming Weekend. I was Also Really Excited For Everyone Involved and Excited That Kingsbury Would Be Able To-Play For Coach Sherrill.

After The Weekend Official Visit, I called Coach Sherrill on Monday To See What Happened and He Told Me a Disappointing Story. First of All, Coach Sherrill's Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach Had Been Recruiting Another Quarterback and He Had Offered Him Over The Weekend and He Had Accepted and so The Bulldogs did not Have a Scholarship For Kliff Kingsbury.

As Fate Would Have it For Kliff Kingsbury, I Also Had Gotten another Call Over The Weekend From another Great Friend, Coach Mike Leach at Texas Tech.

The Call From Coach Leach Was Really Interesting. Coach Leach Was Looking For a Great Passing Quarterback and He Had Heard That There Was a Great Passing Quarterback at New Braunfels, But He Had Not Seen Him on Film or in Person. Had To-Say About Kingsbury, Coach Leach Was Highly Excited.

I Later Found-Out That Texas Tech Offered H.im an Official Visit For The Next Weekend and That Coach Leach Had Immediately Offered Him a Scholarship to Texas Tech and He Had Accepted and The Rest is History.

Then, in The Texas High School All-Star Game, Kingsbury Was Voted as The Offensive Graduated Third in a Graduating Class of 450 and He Was Selected To The Academic All-State Team.

SIDEBAR: In 1994, 1997, and 2005, There Were Three Different Texas High School Football Quarterbacks, Who Were Unbelievable and Incredible Football Players As Seniors, but They Were Not Heavily Recruited. In Fact, They Were Not Even Recruited, because They Did Not Have Incredible Stats as a Junior, and They Were NEVER Able To-Make Any of The Politically-Motivated Various College Coaches Recruiting Lists.

In 2004, Andy Dalton (In Photo) Split-Time as a Starting Quarterback For The Katy Tigers Football Team in Katy, Texas, a North Suburb of of Houston, Texas, but Then, as a Senior, Dalton Led His Katy Team, as The Starting Quarterback To a 14-0 Record and a Spot in The Texas 5A Division 2 State Championship Game Against The Southlake Carroll Dragons High School Football Team.

This Same Katy Tigers High School Football Team Had Already Won Four State Championships in 1959 - 1A, 1997 - 5A, 2000 - 5A-D2, and 2003 - 5A-D2. The Katy Tigers Would Also Win Four More State Football Championships in 2007 - 5A - D2, 2008 -5A - D2, 2012 5A - D2, and 2015 - 5A -2D; But This Was 2005.

In That 2005 Football Season, Dalton Passed For 2,877-Yards and 42 Touchdowns and Got His Team Into The State Championship Game, Against The Southlake Carroll Dragons. The Dragons Also Got Help From Their Great Quarterback Greg McElroy, Who Passed For 4,687-Yards and a Texas State Record 56 Touchdown Passes; and McElroy Passed For 331-Yards an Four Touchdowns in The 34-20 Victory Over Andy Dalton and His Katy Tigers.

In That 2005 Football Season, Dalton Was Voted as The Greater Houston Area Offensive Player of The Year. He Was an Incredible Football Player as a Senior, But He Was Still "Flying-Under-The-Recruiting-Radar" For The College Coaches and Their "So-Called" Political Recruiting List and So I Invited Him To-Play in My 2006 All-American Bowl Game Classic For Players Who Were "Flying Under The College Coaches Recruiting List.

I Did Not Realize That Andy Dalton Had Injured His Thumb on His Passing Hand in The State Championship and He Was in a Day-To-Day Situation as To Whether He Could Play in The All-American Bowl Game.

Andy Dalton and His Dad, Greg, Checked-In To The Hotel and Came To Our First Practice and Andy Went Through Our First Day Quarterback Drills and it Was Obvious That Andy Could Not Play in The Game, and Since He Had Already Committed To The TCU Horned Frogs, I Did Not Want To-Expose His Thumb To Any More Risk. He and His Dad Were There All Week and Andy Was Suited-Up and on The West Sidelines For The All-American Bowl Game!
