We will never forget 😞

🇺🇸🐴 THE DAY THE CLYDESDALES BOWED THEIR HEADS FOR NEW YORK

There were no speeches, no voice-over and almost no words.

Just eight magnificent Clydesdale horses making a quiet journey through the snow.

They pulled their wagon towards New York City before stopping on a hillside overlooking the skyline. Then, as the Statue of Liberty stood in the distance, the horses slowly lowered their heads.

It was a simple gesture—but it said what millions of people were struggling to put into words.

The moving Budweiser tribute was broadcast during the Super Bowl on 3 February 2002, less than five months after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. It was created to honour those who lost their lives, the families whose worlds changed forever and the first responders who ran towards danger while others escaped.

The original commercial was shown only once nationally. An updated version was later created for the tenth anniversary in 2011.

There was something especially powerful about using horses to deliver the message. Clydesdales are symbols of strength and endurance, yet in that final moment they showed humility, stillness and respect.

No explanation was needed.

The silence was the message.

As we mark 25 years since the attacks, we remember the 2,977 innocent people who were killed, the extraordinary courage of the emergency services and the countless families who have carried their loss every day since.

Twenty-five years may have passed, but some moments must never be forgotten.

Today, like those Clydesdales, we pause.

We lower our heads.

And we remember. 🇺🇸🕯️

🐴💊 **BUTE vs. BANAMINE: WHICH ONE WHEN?**

They’re probably two of the best known medications in the horse world. Both relieve pain and inflammation, but they aren’t necessarily the first choice for the same problems.

Here’s an easy barn trick for remembering the difference:
🦴 BUTE = BONES, JOINTS & FEET
🤢 BANAMINE = BELLY & FEVER

🦴 BUTE | Phenylbutazone: Think musculoskeletal pain and inflammation. Bute is commonly used for things like arthritis, hoof pain, laminitis, strains, soreness, and other causes of lameness. If your horse hurts when he MOVES, your veterinarian may reach for BUTE.

🤢 BANAMINE | Flunixin Meglumine: Think visceral pain, meaning pain coming from the internal organs. Banamine is especially useful for **colic and abdominal pain** and is also commonly used for fever and inflammation associated with systemic illness. If your horse hurts in his GUT, your veterinarian may reach for BANAMINE.

🐴 BUT WAIT...
Bute doesn't have a GPS programmed for the legs, and Banamine doesn't magically drive straight to the intestines. 😂

Both are systemic NSAIDs, and both can reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body. There’s plenty of overlap. The difference is that each has situations where veterinary evidence and experience make it a more logical first choice.

⚠️ DON’T STACK THEM. Giving Bute and Banamine together can increase the risk of ulcers, intestinal injury, and kidney damage.

⚠️ Banamine may make a horse with a serious intestinal problem appear much more comfortable temporarily. If the pain returns, breaks through the medication, or your horse continues showing colic signs, call your veterinarian.

🦴 My horse hurts when he MOVES. Think BUTE.
🤢 My horse hurts in his GUT. Think BANAMINE.
🤷 I don't know WHY my horse hurts. Think VET. ☎️

And remember, pain relief isn't the same thing as fixing the problem.
