After 12+months of relentless consistency… showing up 3–4 days every week… today one of our own local police officers has officially earned his BLUE BELT in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

This isn’t given. This is EARNED.

🔥 OG LEVEL JIU-JITSU – REAL DETAILS THAT WIN FIGHTS 🔥

Tonight at McSweeney Martial Arts, we had Coach James McSweeney on the mats breaking down elite-level guard work at our 6:30 PM class.

This wasn’t just “move of the day” stuff…
This is the difference between average Jiu-Jitsu and world-class understanding.

👉 ARM DRAG FROM GUARD – DONE PROPERLY:

Most people make this mistake ⛔
They arm drag with a straight arm…
Opponent just pulls back using their lats = too strong.

Here’s how we do it at McSweeney Martial Arts:

✔️ Pin the wrist to your opponent’s belly
✔️ Force their arm across their body (break their structure)
✔️ Reach through the space → secure the elbow
✔️ Drag across your centerline (not out wide)

From there:

➡️ Come up strong to take the back
➡️ Clear your bottom leg into half guard
➡️ Transition and climb to full back control
➡️ Hand under armpit + wrist control = dominant position

💡 Key lesson:
Stop trying to move your opponent…
They’re stronger. They’re heavier.

Move yourself. Create angles. Take the back.
