Finally met Don Ballard in person at Hamvention. I was on the team that gave him the Amateur Technician exam last fall. He is currently the only Medal of Honor recipient to hold an Amateur Radio license. W0MOH

In December a W5YI team tested Don Ballard, a Medal of Honor recipient for his Technician exam and then his General exam the next week. Don Ballard Now W0MOH is the only living ( currently there are 61) Medal of Honor Recipients that is a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator.

Happy New year! W5YI ended 2025 in great fashion. We are still net positive with income vs expenses. Testing was down about 25% across all VEC’s Still we tested just under 5000 applicants in 2025.
