A setter's hands decide what her hitters get. Most players never train them on purpose, because hand work looks small next to jumping and swinging. It is not small. The shape of her hands at contact controls the speed of the ball, the height of it, and whether her hitter arrives on time or a half step late.

At Elite Setter Academy we start at the wall. Close range, hundreds of repetitions, nowhere to hide a lazy contact. A player finds out very quickly which fingers are doing the work and which ones are along for the ride. That is why we film it this close, because you cannot correct what you cannot see.

If your daughter sets for her team and wants the ball to come out the same way every single time, this is the work that gets her there. Come see what she can do with it:)

At this level the dig off the floor is not a highlight. It is the standard, and more importantly it is trainable.

Most people watch defense and see reaction time and courage. Those help. But the liberos who take the fewest balls off the chest are the ones reading the hitter's shoulder before the set even arrives, and that is a skill you can teach in a gym on a Tuesday night.

So at Elite Libero Academy we work the reading first and the platform second. A player who is early does not have to be spectacular. A player who is late has to be.

I am biased about this one. I built a fifteen year career on the skill nobody wanted to practice, because passing and defense are what make a player valuable when she is not the tallest person in the gym.

Elite Libero Academy is Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in Plano, for advanced players 14 to 18. You are welcome to come watch a session before you decide anything:)

I did not start playing volleyball until I was fifteen years old. I weighed 135 pounds at six foot one, I could not lift a 45 pound bar, and the first time anyone measured my vertical it came back at 25 inches. Nobody watching me that year saw a future Olympian, they saw a kid who was behind.

That is the whole reason DVA exists, and it is the one part of this program I will never compromise on. It is grades 3 through 8, there are no tryouts, and nobody gets cut. We train progressively and we play real Game Days, because a young player learns far more from being in the gym than she does from being told she is not ready for it yet.

Every kid walks in with more in her than anyone can measure on the first day, and my job is simply to keep her in the room long enough for it to show up.

We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 PM in Plano, and you can drop in for $35 before you commit to anything at all.

If your daughter got cut from her school team this month, she is not behind, she is early. Bring her Tuesday:)

The energy at evaluations has been something special.

Every week, athletes are walking into our gym ready to compete, ready to be coached, and ready to earn their spot on an LVA team for the 2026-2027 season.

What stands out isn’t just the talent. It’s the attitude. Players showing up early. Asking questions. Competing on every single rep. Pushing each other to be better.

That’s the standard at LVA. And these athletes are meeting it.

We’re building 15 teams across Elite, National, Regional, and Metro tiers. Ages 11 to 16. And the rosters are taking shape.

Evaluations are still open. Come train and get evaluated under Olympic-level coaching.
