We start losing 1-2 percent of muscle as early as our mid 30's. It's called sarcopenia (age related muscle loss). If we don't do anything to mitigate or slow it down, we will find ourselves achy, sore, and weak in our 50's.
The physical activity guidelines for Americans recommend adults age 18-64 strength train at least twice weekly. Most, unfortunately, don't even come close.
