In true Pfanenstiel Family racing fashion, Brent and Brandon got wins, and the Heavy Metal Camaro is broke šŸ˜…

I was rolling through the rounds and won third round when the car did something weird at the finish line. Having thought I broke something in the motor or possibly the transmission, I pulled over. When another pair came down the track while I was sitting there, I risked it and fired the car back up to limp off the track.

After having some choice words with the track official who was laughing like it was a joke when he came to tow me back, Brandon and I looked the car over. Not seeing anything I went up for my fourth round and confirmed in the water box that something isn’t quite right with the transmission.

I’ve already got Brandon and Dad discussing options, so I’m not done! We’re off this coming weekend and then will be back out to race for some Wally’s.

We’re prepping for this race weekend at Srca Dragstrip but that doesn’t mean I’m not still riding the high of winning in Kearney last weekend!

Let’s do it again on Saturday!

I know I thanked them briefly in my long post from Sunday but I just want to shout out the boys in their own post.

Racing with family is truly the only way I know to do this and I’m so thankful for the family I’ve got.

Brent Pfanenstiel Racing and Brandon Pfanenstiel Racing had their own race on Sunday. Brent was competing in Junior Street in the Kansas 811 Camaro and he was doing awesome! He made it to his own final before losing a really good race. But that didn’t stop them from helping me all day long!

I would get back from my pass and they would come out from behind the fans (it was like 1000 degrees outside šŸ˜‚) and take my hood off. Brandon would put the leaf blower on the car to help with the cooling process, while Brent would help me with fueling and getting the battery charger on.

Then they would go up to the lanes for their race. When they got back to the trailer, my class had already been called. So they’d get out of their respective seats, and immediately begin helping me get the hood back on, leaf blower and battery charger off, and anything else I needed before heading up for my race. Heck, at one point I forgot my cooling towel and Brent ran from the trailer to the lanes just to bring it to me.

In between all of our running around, we worked as a team to make sure Dunc was taken care of and talked strategies for the upcoming round. Brandon joked with Brentlee that if I made it to the winners circle they were going to take their shirts off for the photo, because Duncan had been shirtless all day. I offered to take mine off as well, but Brandon said nošŸ˜‚ so I held up my imaginary trophy instead.

Most people see racing and think it’s a solo sport, just the driver competing for that final win light. They don’t always see the team behind the driver, so I wanted to highlight my team because there is no way this would’ve happened without them. šŸ’—

I KNOCKED down the tree on Sunday so it only seemed fitting to have it in the winners circle šŸ˜‚

Being the last final of the day has its perks. Unfortunately the track didn’t have the trophies for today’s race so we had to improvise! The crew was bringing the tree off the track for storage and we jokingly said ā€œHey! Can we hold that for the picture?ā€

The guys looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders, then delivered it to me. So that’s how my first winners circle picture came to have the literal tree in it.

FYI that thing is HEAVY!

Just a fun memory from the day. 😊

I’ve been racing big cars since 2014 and never found the winner circle, until today!

Which is probably why it’s so challenging for me to find the words for this post. Because it’s that overdue. If you saw my post from my last race out, you know how frustrated I was. But at the end of that post I said that one day I’d get to fly without the fall. That day was today!

Let’s start on the starting line (where every race starts). I was .045, .003, .004, .011, .008, .026, .025, and .058 in the final. I’m pretty darn proud of that. And I’ve said for a long time that if I could just stay green that I could race my way to a final. Here’s the proof of that. The crazy part looking at all these numbers is I WASN’T trying to kill the tree šŸ˜…. But somehow I was. I was shooting for .030 every time and if you throw out my first time run (when I wasn’t actually awake yet) and my final run (when I darn sure wasn’t going to red light) then I was better than my goal all day and strung together an awesome spread.

The Heavy Metal Camaro was phenomenal. It wasn’t dead consistent but it was enough that I was able to dial the car and race it. Today was HOT and the car and track definitely knew it. But I was able to race it every round and never felt beat by circumstances I couldn’t control.

Brent asked me what I was thinking about in the staging lanes before that final round. I told him ā€œI didn’t really think of anything.ā€ And I think that’s the truth for the whole day. I felt confident. I felt comfortable. I felt like I could win and so I didn’t need to think about anything else. Sure I was nervous! I’ve been to several finals but never sealed the deal. But I felt good and I knew I could do it and I DID!

I raced a dragster dialed 9.91 to my 9.83. We launched and were side by side. I tracked him the entire quarter mile, looking for an opportunity to kill a number or two if needed. But there was no space. He was there the entire race and crossed the finish line first by .006. I had him on the tree and ran 2 above my number. He ran 2 under. It was just a clean, all out bracket race and it was thrilling! Here’s video proof.

Anywho, obviously I had a great time at the track. šŸ˜‚ And none of it would be possible without certain people.

Brandon and Brent busted their butts to help me keep the car cool, fueled, and ready to go. Not to mention keeping track of Dunc so I could do my thing.

Dad (Jeff) for giving me a hot rod to race and teaching me everything I know. I sure wish you had been there for that first win but there will be more to come, I’m sure of it.

And of course my partners who support me win or lose, cheering us on and never giving up on us! Myrietta and Curtis Leach- Keller Williams Realty Signature Partners LLC | Arnold Pumping LLC | Team Live On | Auditory Defense | TrackBrats | Mild 2 Wild Custom Fab | Kansas 811
