Hunt Montana- Professionally Guided Big Game Hunts
2nd Generation Christian Outfitter, Permit #8313
We operate on Private Land, State Land, Cabinet Ranger District, Kootenai National Forest, Plains and Superior Ranger District, Lolo National Forest. Our success rate for elk and deer varies on the ability of the clients and their preferences. The elk and deer use the same terrain, so you can hunt b
oth at the same time. This area has both whitetail and mule deer. The mule deer rut earlier than the whitetail here. So if you are interested in a mule deer buck schedule your hunt for week two or three. If you are interested in a whitetail buck schedule your hunt for week four or five. We have some very respectable bucks here, definitely Boone and Crocket class. During rifle season the weather conditions will likely be wet and cold. Wool or Polar fleece clothing is essential. I recommend Polypropylene for your base layer (*NO COTTON). Form fitting wool/synthetic blend socks that wick moisture (*NO COTTON), fleece hat and gloves, two pair of well broke-in winter waterproof boots (air-bob soles), camouflage outer garment layer, a 400 square inch florescent orange hunting vest (break up camouflage pattern), Gortex rain gear is fine but must be quiet. Elk and deer have excellent hearing, so, all your clothing should be of material that is quiet in the brush. Bring your boot dryer if you have one. (For more information click on http://www.huntwithcody.com/itemstobringrifleseason.htm.) ARCHERY ELK AND DEER HUNTS
Archery elk is our passion. We are experienced in bugling in bulls usually within bow range of our clients. It's an experience archers never forget! Archery season begins the first Saturday in September. The elk are in the rut during this season. The deer are not in the rut. Because of this we usually don't concentrate on deer hunting unless the client is too tired to elk hunt or the client prefers to deer hunt. During archery season we locate bulls by bugling or spotting. We start the hunt early, well before day light, and hunt until the action stops. (The bulls quit talking.) We encourage clients to hunt evenings also. Weather can vary dramatically, from 30 degrees to 90 degrees during this season. I recommend lightweight clothing for warm days and medium-weight clothing for cool days. All outerwear clothing should be camouflage. Form fitting wool/synthetic blend socks that wick moisture (*NO COTTON), fleece hat and gloves, two pairs of non-insulted, well broke-in, light weight hiking boots. Gortex rain gear is fine but must be quiet. All clothing should be of material that is quiet in the brush. (For more information click on http://www.huntwithcody.com/itemstobringarcheryseason.htm.) BLACK BEAR HUNTS
Montana spring bear season starts April 15th and runs until May 15th. Fall season starts September 15th and runs until elk/deer rifle season ends. We encourage hunters to buy a bear tag if they are booking a fall elk/deer hunt. It is not uncommon to see a black bear while hunting for elk and deer. If your main interest is black bear hunting we have four weeks in the spring and 1 week in the fall when we specifically concentrate on harvesting black bear. There are a good number of bear in our area. Spotting and stalking is the method used in this hunt. We do not use bait or dogs. We utilize closed roads, open brush fields and natural feeding habitats to hunt for black bear. We are fortunate to have all color phases of black bear in our area. There are black, brown, cinnamon, blond, and black with a white diamond on the chest. Your clothing should be the same as listed above for archery elk and deer hunts, except you need a 400 square inch florescent orange hunting vest (break up camouflage pattern).
