Chikara Martial Arts is now a Private School. Only Private Single and Small Group Classes will be available. You can apply to be part of the class and then we will decide if you are right for our school.

We have a special person who comes to our dojo on a regular basis.
Funny thing is she is in her sixties. She does not step foot on the mat often, but she bring her grandson who does.
Usually Mickey will help clean, or dress the school up for holidays.
But one of her habits is that she pays attention to every class she comes to.

Recently a student tried to tell me that I have not shown the technique that I was reviewing with the class. Before I could say a thing, Mickey shouts out, “Shihan sure has shown you that, that is the one where you ....” and she continues to tell the student every move required for that technique. And she ends with “Maybe you should pay attention when he is talking”

God Bless her for helping me keep my sanity and that is why we fondly refer to her as “Coach”.
It is amazing what people can get by coming to the dojo even if they have not thrown one punch.
