The 12u Tornadoes do it again!
The boys secured another championship at their tournament last weekend. Again, braving the cold & wind as if they were made to play in this weather.
The pitchers were efficient and effective. Gavin threw a complete game shutout in game 1. CJ threw 67 pitches through 5 innings 47 being strikes, walked zero and struck out five in game 2 with Nick closing the last inning out only needing 11 pitches to strike out the side. In game 1 of bracket play Owen started on the mound and was able to pitch 4 great innings. He limited our opponents opportunities and fed off the pressure. Drew came in to close the final inning of the game allowing no hits and striking out three! The championship game was started with Nick on the mound. He continued to throw great, striking out 5 batters. The game was closed out by Derrick. He was able to go three up three down, which took all the energy out of our opponent. Their fielding was outstanding, inning after inning, with a must-mention play by Matt closing out game 1 with a diving play at 1st.
Again, the batting from the Tornadoes went unmatched with notable hits including Derrick’s two triples on Sunday, Drew’s triple in the Championship game, Gavin’s walk off hit in the Semi Final, CJ’s huge hit that was only kept in the ballpark because of the wind on Saturday, Everett’s clutch triple in the Championship and Eli’s walk off hit to close out the game Sunday night that solidified us as the Champions.
