With a bogey free 64 (-8) at the US Open qualifier today at Four Bridges in Cincinnati! What an incredible round. Success leaves clues. Work on the right things, be focused, have fun, be intentional and most importantly be consistent in your process.

Coaching. Recruiting. Development. Parenting. I’ve lived every side of this.

I’ve spent 20+ years coaching at every level, including Duke (under Hall of Fame coaches Rod Myers and Dan Brooks) and Ohio State. I was part of two NCAA Championship teams at Duke, and I’ve worked inside elite programs where the standards are real.

In 2009, I founded Play Golf In College (PGIC). Over the last 16 years, I’ve helped 165+ junior golfers get placed into college programs with a 95%+ success rate. And worked with 19 Individual State Champions.

I’m also the Head Coach at Dublin Jerome, where we won a state championship in 2025 and earned a national #1 ranking.

And I’m a parent too. All three of my kids played Division I golf:
• Nick: 2x OHSAA D1 State Champion, Ohio State + Western Washington
• Jack: All Ohio, Academic All-American at Miami (OH), played professionally
• Emma: Academic All-American at Dayton

I’ve been the player, the NCAA championship coach, the mentor, and the parent. Nobody else has that combination of experience and results. That matters when families want clarity and a real roadmap to success and to avoid pitfalls.

Drop them off. Walk away. Let them own it.

When you’re standing behind your child at the range, they’re not practicing. They’re performing for you. And no kid wants to fail in front of their parent.

A kid who’s alone will experiment. Try crazy shots. Explore. Fail. Try again. That’s where real learning happens.

A kid being watched plays it safe. Hits the shots that look good. Never pushes the edges of what they can do.
Give them space. Let them struggle without an audience. That’s how ownership gets built. That’s how confidence gets built.
