With a heavy heart, I have to announce that J&L will be closing up shop for an undermined amount of time. The shop has to find a new place to move and as of now there’s no space. I greatly appreciate all of you who have trusted me to make you or your loved ones a blade! I will continue the warranty side and free sharpening promises I’ve made! Thank you to everyone who has shared or liked the posts and helped make this brand what it is today. This isn’t good-bye….it’s see you in a while. 🔪🗡️🔪🗡️

The first one out of the shop for 2026, and one of my favorites so far! Boo-boo even helped on this one! And yes, that’s a lawnmower blade, gotta love that high carbon 1095! Sheath by Jerry Carleton and Peggy Carleton came out awesome as always!

Louis Gaudreau has been on dialysis since January, 2022. He is a kidney transplant patient at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and needs a living donor to proceed with a transplant. Nine generous people. have volunteered to be a living donor, but none has met the rigorous medical requirements. So as many of you already know, my uncle Tim was a John Deere fanatic. He loved everything green and yellow! We lost uncle Tim way too soon, but earlier this year he ordered a knife for my Aunt Susie….so this blade is 1095 high carbon steel, green and yellow liners, and the aluminum handle, is from my grandfathers meat cleaver. Originally from Howe scale when he worked there. Didn’t want to ruin the meaning and history of the handle so just a clean up and slight shape, also big thanks to my dad Jerry Carleton for milling the custom pins to fit the original pin holes! Merry Christmas!

Well to say it’s been a long road is to say the least. We took almost a full year off from bladesmithing. The first knife I’ve made in close to a year was given as a gift tonight and I think it came out damn good! One more waiting to cure, pics to follow on that one….it’s extremely special and close to our hearts…Cherish the ones around that tree, and celebrate the ones we lost too soon…. Have a safe and Merry Christmas!
