So I am not surprised that the word going around right now is that Hexy would not fire Hakstol and that was the straw that broke the camels back. I always liked Hexy as a player and I thought he was doing a great job rebuilding our farm system and removing bad contracts. However, Flyer fans are not like Sixers fans... We can't trust the process, not when we see two of our most hated rivals the Penguins and the Caps lift 3 of the last 4 Stanley Cups.
I appreciate all that he has done for the city and the franchise I love more than any other, but he was hinging everything on Hakstol and I just didn't agree with that. Hakstol is a great collegiate coach but he cannot adapt to the NHL level.
I believe that once the new GM is in place they will release Hakstol.
I still am firm in going after Quenneville, he is a 3x Stanley Cup winning coach and in my opinion he is 2nd best to coach in the business next to Babcock. We would be really stupid not to grab him up right now before someone else does. This is a critical time for this organization and we cannot waste anymore time.
Get the new GM in place by Wednesday at the latest and get Quenneville on the phone after tomorrow night's game.

I just want to point out that the last time the Flyers were struggling this bad was when John Stevens was the coach and I said then, because the Hurricane had just gotten rid of Laviolette. That as soon as Stevens was fired that they were going to get Lavy and I was right. So I want to see if my hockey sense is right again. Buckle up Flyers fans it's going to be an interesting week.

What an incredible and amazing 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. We had so much fun and excitement this post season, I think more than we had in previous years.

I have a few takeaways.

First off I was so surprised by the Winnipeg Jets and the Toronto Maple Leafs. I have to say my favorite series to watch was the Maple Leafs/Boston Bruins series. The Leafs are so close and they were so exciting to watch. The Jets surprised me because very quietly they have built a strong contending team.

Secondly, yet again the Anaheim Ducks disappointed me. They have such incredible talent on that team yet every year they just go flat in the playoffs. This time a straight sweep, the ownership needs to make some drastic changes this off season. It might start with shaking up the leadership on the ice.

Thirdly, and I will be the first to admit when I'm wrong.... boy was I wrong about putting a team in Las Vegas. I periodically would watch some of their games during the season and not only was I impressed with the players and coaches but the excitement and energy they brought into that building night after night. I think just from feedback I was hearing, it got a lot of new fans into the game. And that is never at all a bad thing. They had a heck of a year and it's ashame they couldn't bring the cup home. But don't be discouraged Vegas fans, because the Vegas Golden Knights are for real!

Finally! Washington Capitals fans you get to breath a huge sigh of relief. You're Caps are now STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!! In a season of ups and downs, the team never lost sight of the prize and it truly showed all throughout the playoffs. Against the Columbus Blue Jackets where it started off bleak, to every profession analysts in the business counting them out against the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins, and their gritty hard fought battle against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was a was a championship run that Capital fans can celebrate for a long time.

What a heck of a season all around! I can't wait to see what we are in store for in the 2018-2019 season.
Mom and I will be back recording together soon. We miss you all so much and we look forward to getting back on the air!

Enjoy your summer friends!!
Hugs and Love from J&J

The World Cup is over and the dominance of Team Canada 🇨🇦 shines, with their 2-1 win in Game 2 against Team Europe. Congratulations to Team Canada 🇨🇦!!

But as we watched this tournament FINALLY come back, many fans of their national teams were left with way more questions and worries than they did coming into the tournament.

One of the biggest disappointments was Team USA 🇺🇸- Extremely high expectations with this team that featured last seasons scoring champion Patrick Kane, 2 Time Stanley Cup Champion Jonathan Quick and a host of other incredibly talented players. But even with all that talent on the ice the team didn't even make it out of the qualifying round. This comes off of an extremely disappointing performance in Sochi at the Winter Olympics in 2014, and many fans now are scratching their heads just wondering how we return to a higher level of performance in these tournaments. Head Coach John Tortorella had little to no answers for millions of fans demanding answers - me being one of them.
Like: Why after Jonathan Quick's horrible performance in the first game against the Czech Republic did he not start Ben Bishop against Canada?

Not a single win in the entire tournament. As an American hockey fan that is simply unacceptable and it needs to be fixed quickly because the PyeongChang Olympics are quickly approaching, if NHL players even participate.

Excellent tournament and I thought ESPN did a great job. World Cup of Hockey 🏒 back in 4 years!

Greetings to all our loyal friends and listeners.

First off as much as this pains me to say it mom and I would like to Congratulate the Pittsburgh Penguins on winning the 2016 Stanley Cup. Was a great series and a very hard fought battle. Ok I almost vomited a little.. Lol!

Secondly I wanted to fill you all in on some things that are happening with mom and I which is why you haven't heard from us at all during the playoffs. For a long time we kept some things from you all because the show is and always has been about hockey. For the most part we have kept our personal struggles off air but we can no longer keep them from you any longer.

We recently fell onto some hard times, moms last job wasn't nearly as good as she was hoping it was going to be and we had been struggle for a few months to stay on track. Well about 3 1/2 weeks ago that all came to a screeching halt when our electricity was shut off. It took 2 weeks for us to get it back on and in order to do that I had to sell the iMac we use to podcast with and my only computer. Wasn't something I wanted to do but desperate times call for desperate measures. Mom does have a much better job now for the past 2 months and hopefully soon I can replace the computer and get back to podcasting to you all.

I know we have asked for your patience before with us, when we moved twice and now with this. I wanted to be as transparent as possible with you all because we love you all like family. We will be back and we will be better than ever before. Please forgive mom and I for not being more forthcoming before this, sometimes shame sucks.

Love Julie

An extremely sad sad sad day in the world of hockey and for Detroit Red Wing fans. Gordie Howe was not just an amazing hockey player but he was a true ambassador not only for the sport but for so many causes off the ice.

The Gordie Howe Hat Trick is still my favorite stat, even though Mr. Howe only had about 5 in his whole career lol.

My deepest condolences go out to the Howe family and the Detroit Red Wing family and it's amazing fans.

Today we lost a great.

Radko Gudas of the Philadelphia Flyers is playing on the edge of reckless pretty much all season. Last night he crossed the line into full blown reckless. There is no excuse at all for his hit on New Jersey Devils forward Bobby Farnham. He needs to be suspended not only by the NHL but also by the Flyers. Just last week head coach Dave Hakstol, sat him down and had a talk with him about these unnecessary hits. That was after the Buffalo game where again he borderlined a late, high hit. So I would like to see the team suspend him for Conduct Detrimental to the team and the NHL suspend him and he must serve both those suspensions.

The message clearly isn't getting through to this young man and I'd like to see my team make an example out of him. It's one thing to play big physical hockey and it's another thing to play reckless. He should get 3 games from the team and 5 from the Department of Player Safety. Absolutely zero excuse for what he did last night.... Zero!
