Usually diving quiets my mind. Occasionally ADHD runs the mental circus. But always, I will support my dive buddies, cheering them on, being at the ready while growing & learning together! 💙🌊

One of the most helpful tools for improving my diving has honestly been recording myself underwater. 🎥🌊

I film using my Insta360 X5 in the dive housing, mounted hands-free on a wrist mount so both of my hands stay available which is especially crucial in sidemount.

I think it’s really important to wait until you have solid buoyancy and trim before using a camera that requires handling underwater. Task loading is REAL, and maintaining awareness, control, and good diving habits should always come first.

That’s why I love hands-free setups so much. I can focus on the dive while still capturing footage to review later. Watching myself back has helped me catch small issues with trim, finning, positioning, and overall technique that I may not have noticed in the moment.

But beyond improving my skills, filming has also become one of the most fun and rewarding parts of diving for me. Between the silly voiceover videos, capturing dives with my buddies, and getting to relive some truly incredible underwater moments, it’s allowed me to hold onto memories that mean so much to me. There’s something really special about being able to look back at the beauty, chaos, laughter, and wild world of nature beneath the surface. 🤿🐟
