Baseball is back at 42 Field this Saturday!

Opening Day this year is a $5 home run derby that will start at 4 p.m. Bring a friend, some cash and take some swings. Derby winner will get all proceeds!

We'll also throw together a backyard game or two afterwards (attendance permitting) that will serve as a sneak peak of our annual tournament held July 24-26.

Made the annual pilgrimage home to get the field ready for Opening Day. According to the locals, I got the first weekend all spring where it didn't rain. Also celebrated Mother's Day with and a trip to The Trainwreck in Coldwater, Michigan.

Shoutout to Mark Wiles who helped out on Saturday. Mark has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the years but rarely passes up an opportunity to help out. He told me being at the field is good for his being. That's the 42 Field promise.

Now that we've all survived another election cycle, can I interest you in some baseball?

Registration is open until June 1 for Sandlot Saturday. For $50, you can spend a day at 42 Field playing ball with a bunch of cool guys. Who knows, maybe you'll park one over the road or take home the custom-made bat trophy from .

You can sign-up individually or in pairs (pairs will be placed on the same team).

Always gotta watch baseball on Jackie Robinson Day.

42 Field's namesake is two-fold. It's the number I wore as a kid. My favorite player was Mariano Rivera, the last player to wear 42 regularly.

42 was also Jackie's number. 42 is baseball's number.

Hence, 42 Field.

I've been fixing gloves on and off since I was in high school. For the first time, I re-did a trapeze web (thanks to a YouTube video). Not too bad.

I've had this glove since 2013 when I was a freshman in college. Still has some games left in it, I think. At least until I break in the new one.

Also, if you're reading this. I fix gloves! Hmu if you need yours re-done. Would be happy to do it (you buy the lace)
